I wrote this while listening to this.
It also happened to be the inspiration for this tale.
I don't know if the story alone is good enough, but I'm sure this should enhance it.

I'm only marking the characters who make a significant impact on the story. Yes, Celestia isn't in there, but she's the cornerstone of this story.
Anyway, this is a one-off thing. I just found inspiration to write it, and I wrote it in about two hours. I'll even admit: I cried myself as I wrote it.

ZULU 0941 24 DEC 2011: After mulling it over for a while, and taking ideas from multiple users (as well as my own - I don't just steal others' ideas, you know), I've decided that I can continue this, and at some point I hopefully will. However, I've put it "On Hiatus" so it's easy to see when I do continue it. I reckon I'll get two or three other things out of the way first, and I need time to come up with more to it. Look forward to it!

Not bad, and it has a good punch to it. If Celestia is dead, though, why is the magic still active that sends her messages. Interesting thought for a sequel: Spike coughs up a return message.

25504 Interesting thought, though the original intention was that the magic was only affected on her end, hence the letter not really going anywhere.
However, if I come up with something else, I may continue it. Chances are slim, but one can hope. I still have a project in progress, and two more on the back-burner to get through, so even if there is a continuation, it may not be for some time.

Oh wow...There are a lot of great tear-jerkers in this fandom, but I have to say that yours is one of the best I've read, especially since Princess Celestia is almost never the pony who gets offed. I like the idea of a sequel. More?

43026 I have a few more projects on the go and ready to start at the moment, so this probably won't see anything for a while. However, I have ideas in mind; whether any of them see the light of day is another matter entirely, but it is possible.
43048 I'm glad my recommendation helped. I just stuck that on repeat, let my heart take control of my hands and went into autopilot. Seriously, I just played it and the story wrote itself.
And I'm glad you both like it; that you think so highly of it is unbelievable, really. It's only my second fic ever, and my first has come to a grinding halt after just one chapter. Thank you; it's a real confidence-booster when someone praises one's work so emphatically.
Good fic for the most part, but AJ's accent was way too extreme and stereotypical. It was so overblown I laughed and it totally ruined the mood.

Heh. I know people all have different tastes. It doesn't surprise me that there are people who don't like bittersweet tales, but to hear that you don't like them in general yet like mine...well, it's nice to hear, to say the least.
Don't worry, my next one's going to be a little more light-hearted - my continuation of this won't be, though, so fair warning ahead of time.
(I say all that but haven't updated anything in over six months. I am not worthy of you guys.)
