I feel you did a good job explaining Blueblood's new backstory. Though having Celestia basically disown him seems a bit harsh. At least tell me something was done to that noble and her bodyguard for assaulting him. Tell me, at least Celestia acknowledges him as her nephew. I couldn't stand it. Shining Armor seems more like something added to Blueblood's backstory than him having his own.
As for how is next? My first thought was seeing a story about how, if at all, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are different in this timeline. I'm also curious if you have anything planned for Scootaloo?
5403066 the CMC are getting their own, seperate story, this includes Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. and yeah this first one shot is pretty flawed. MY main gripe is how Shining Armour barely has any presence or development here and its told from blueblood's point of view, that and its largely exposition. :/
But no Celestia didn't disown Blueblood, she put him into the Royal Guard to teach him to rely on others and not just on his title, money and relation to her, which is why she took that away from hmim, so he wouldn't be able to just shrug it off. She basically got fed up with his behaviour and find that only an extreme solution could work. Again, I kinda wish I had been able to do this a little better than I did.
I agree with your author's notes a little about the oversimplification and the lack of screen time for Shining Armour, but I rather enjoyed it none the less. It's interesting to see Blueblood with Shining's position and Shining in the role of a lawyer. I would be interested to know about Cease and Desist and why they hold a grudge against Shining, as there wasn't any explanation on it.
As for who you should write about next, I think some interesting ponies might be the Wonderbolts (perhaps changing some of the team in their leadership positions, or even altering characters on the team, like Lightning Dust being a member while Fleetfoot or Spitfirre are the trouble makers) or possibly some show antagonists, such as Gilda or the Flim Flam brothers. The brothers I'm unsure about as they haven't had any direct connection with the main cast until their canon appearance, but Gilda would obviously have a different back story as she wasn't friends with Rainbow, or at least she didn't spend much time with her as she left flight camp for magic school. Interested to see how this universe will handle everypony
5407749 hmmm I actually already have ideas for all of the characters you mentioned (except the wonderbolts and lightning dust) but Spitfire should make an appearnce in another story, but if not she'll get her own one shot.
I'm glad you enjoyed it inspite of its flaws and my griping. : 3 originally, Shining Armour would've been the same as canon, but then I realised he is the same in EVERY AU I've seen with no real variation, which i found lame aand a little lazy, so I decided to change him completely, and this also somehow lead to blueblood's change here. So far thinking the next one shot will be about Vinyl Scratch and Octavia, cause the idea for this sprang from planned one shot about them. But We'll see.
My next couple stories should be a CMC story and a hearth's warming story, so be on the lookout for those too. Also, hope you enjoyed the other fics in this universe so far!
I just re-read this chapter and something dawned on me. Is Blueblood still called Prince Blueblood? He did lose his title after all. I also wonder how Blueblood is now around Canterlot nobles (especially that b*tch that had her bodyguard beat his flank)? I would assume he does his best to have a little contact with them as possible, save those that actually proved they aren't like the rest of them.
5442798 Well considering he's captain of the royal guard now, I assume his title is now officially Captain Blueblood, though if Prince was actually his name rather than a title than I'd say he'd be Captain Prince Blueblood.
And Blueblood does deal with the nobles, mostly they come to him and he has to deal with them, but he does make an effort to try and steer the nobles down a redemptive path and change the majority to nicer ponies through example. He also is fairly personable and makes an effort to talk to ponies outside of official business, I'd say.
Then again, since this is only an idea and thus hasn't been officially seen in yet, this may be sibject to change.

Now i like this Blueblood and while his story is over simplistic i don't see the problem you can do a chapter of Shining Armor and in his flashback(Shining Armor's) develop Blueblood, or maybe make a second part like after the trial they go to a bar a remember how they met or something.
Also this maybe just me but by what little Blueblood and Shining talked they gave me the impression of a competent Detective Gumshoe and Miles Edgeworth maybe form Ace Attorney Investigations it doesn't help that Shining in the comic was a geek and Edgeworth is a fan of the Steel Samurai
But anyway great chapter

anyway, if I do expand on blueblood more in a later chapter, it would be while focusing on another character, because this is supposed to be a collection of one shots collected together in one story for convenience, each story focusing on a seperate pony or couple of ponies in this alternate universe.
I'm definitely intrigued by this series. It's always interesting to see how much is different in series like this. :-D I just hope that nobody ends up nailing Shiny with some acid in the face during a trial. :-D And I can't shake the feeling that Shiny's father might have been framed (though I admit that might be just foolish optimism). At any rate, I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to more of this as soon as time and inspiration will allow.

You know, I think Blueblood became better despite Celestia throwing him out. The reason's quite simple:
Her punishment was pretty horrible for him; moreover, it didn't offer a way to better himself. It's said here that he got singled out by his superiors and beaten down again and again. They didn't give him a fair chance. He was supposed to learn "discipline and honour", but how could he when they treated him more like a convict than a recruit? There wasn't anypony around to teach either, all they showed him was the opposite. Nopony cared one bit about him other than to punish him. Apparently not even Celestia felt like stepping in at any moment.
It's actually ironic how he focused all his hatred on the elite when the guard was just as bad a place.
And what helped him? His friendship with Shining Armor. Another recruit. He got better by spending time with his peer, not because he was part of the guard. The Royal Guard didn't teach him jack. Neither did Celestia, for that matter.
