Logic Flip

One, I'm a Denver native. Two, I love combining things that don't go together. Like toothpaste and Orange juice. Also my alias is Tsu Doh Nim

It came without ceremony and without warning. A huge monolith of mechanics, steam, and smoke that was unlike anything Equestria had ever seen before. It's origins are a mystery. One that demands to be solved.

Did you get your inspiration from that movie that came out a couple of years ago. (I forgot the name.) Anyway good story, can't wait to see more.

Better than my attempt.:twilightblush: Mind if I use this for reference?
.

5387741 Do you mean "Unstoppable"? If that is what you're talking about then yes.

5387764 Yep, go ahead. Just a quick question. Runaway Big Boy on the rails in Equestria, sounds very dangerous, right?

5387806 That's the movie. Thanks.

5388125 Well, I'm working on chapter two while I still got time to burn. Trying to decide if we have Ashpan catch up to it or if it screams through Ponyville going 95 mph.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is one of my engine favorites. The power of this engine makes and put out is amazing. You have my intention.:pinkiehappy::yay::rainbowdetermined2::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::moustache::twilightsmile::raritystarry:

5401857 Wow. Such an enthusiastic response. I'm glad you like it.

The funny thing is that its not the biggest lol, of the King of the Rails title was to be real, it would have to go to the DM&IR yellowstones. None-the-less, a good read. Hope to see more!

In answer to your note on the big boy or the A4. Me personally the big boy

It's full of zombies, innit?

5466315 Nope. But the mane 6 and Celestia are about to have a little surprise in the next chapter.

Answering the A/N: Definitely the Mallard.

Re A/N: Looks like someone's combined a British Railways Class 4 with a Dash 9.

I'm stunned by your suggestion that the railways of Equestria are private. Considering the available information on the distribution of their rail network it'd make more sense to consider it as a nationalised industry.

For the A/N the BIG BOY!

I like the name. I shall give this a read.

5491412 should read my story, then. Canterlot & NorthWestern, among others.

So.. many.. sex jokes...

5557228 Really? Could you point out which ones?

Well that got really weird, really fast.

5558339 Good to know I don't disappoint.

5558350 Indeed, I look forward to seeing what happens next.

I still can't believe you ponified a locomotive.

So have you got a name for 4014 yet? If not might I suggest a silly one like buttercup or tiny

This is a really interesting story. I do hope for more chapters to come.

MLP +TRAINS= YES YES YES YES YES YES GOD THNK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

GOD YOU HAVE ANWERED ALL OUR PRAIERS THANK YOU!!!!!!!

5491328 Fucking REALLY?! Which is more intimidating, a 1.2 MILLION lb steam locomotive pulling a 6000 TON train at 80 mphor a 100000 lb going at 120?

5491381 Plz! A Bigboy's wheels arecAT LEAST 6ft in diameter, and 6000 ton trains are NOT 12 cars long. Wait ITS THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILROAD NVM THE 2ND, BUT COME ON 45 MPH IT COULD OULL 100 IRON ORE CARS UP A 4% GRADE AT 80.

6933077 The mallard still holds the world record for the fastest steam locomotive.

It's ugly, utilitarian, grey, and dirty.

First of all, the Big boy AIN'T ugly, it carries magisty with it. Second of all, it's a fucking cargo train, what were you expecting BESIDES a monodepressent grey/black? Even most passenger express locomotives had very little color (see J class), and were mostly black.

Unleashing a Challenger in Equestria?

I approve this notion.

5411216
Actually the Big Boy was bigger, but the Yellowstone had more pulling power.

Both were articulated with 16 drive wheels, with the Yellowstone winning tractive power and the Big Boy taking the title for straight-up horsepower.

5491412
It's probably a bit of both, with the country funding the construction and expansion of the railways, and private companies, subsidized by the Crown, running the actual freight and passenger lines.

More please. Seriously we need more

4014 big boy was just refurbished a couple of years ago, and is now being used on the rails again.

4014 was coal fired for her entire working life (converted to oil during her restoration)
the only Big Boy to be an oil burner while in revenue service was 4005 (also the only Big Boy to wreck, she was repaired after the wreck and is now in preservation) though it should be noted that there are rumours that Union Pacific was planning to have a third batch of Big Boys built that would be oil burners to be used to haul Freight Trains to Las Vegas.

I love how much emphasis you put on just how much larger Big Boy is

6933077
Big Boy COULD do 80mph, but in reality, it rarely reaches those speeds (as do other trains like it: Articulated engines, were built for power, not speed) in working life it wasn't all that common for them to be doing just 40mph
