As for Rainbow's thoughts, if the scene only has one character, you can have them in their own paragraphs. It's cleaner that way.
Finally, I was going to say something about the hardware scene because it seemed mundane and could be taken out for an explanatory sentence or two. Then I read the lead up to it and it makes more sense to leave it in.
Anything can be fixed with duct tape.
