But, this is a great story by the way.
Wow Cadence's a bitch
Wait... Cadance admits to only treating Shining well around others, and Shining accuses her of using a spell that caused him to force himself on Celestia (it's pretty vague what actually went on then, but it sounds like she cast a spell to force him to have sex with his wife when he didn't want to (rape), and it had a longer effect), and after hearing about both of those, Twilight's like "... I understand." as if she didn't actually parse either of those, and just assumed Shining deserved Cadance's yelling.
Feels like Discord's brainwashing of Shining, which usually takes some form of "I convince you things are awful" would have been easy to accomplish, given Cadance's apparent abuse of Shining, but instead he just hypnotizes Shining outright.
Looks like Cadance is actually supposed to be awful, though, rather than this being a series of poorly told jokes.
Also, if Twilight's Spike's mother, she's an awful mother. Even in the limited scope so far of this fic itself she hasn't given any indications of being a good mother, she describes how he helps her when she's uncomfortable, and seems to care more about how Spike is angry at her, rather than how safe he is. which is an awful way to treat someone you're supposed to care for: to focus on how much he cares for you instead. This isn't even going into all the emotional and physical neglect in the show.
5752259 I've tried writing something relating to what you're saying so many times but I couldn't think of anything good. I just confused myself SO hard. But Cadence is just worried that Twilight wont be the same after what Spike had told her.
5752360 I relly agree with you that Twilight isn't Spike's mom ( if that's what you are going for.) On mulpual orcas hind in the show she forgets Spike and goes and have fun with her friends and leave him alone. To relly seal the deal the 'prank' at the end of winter wrap up that she laughs at Spike when he could of died. What mother or father would laugh at there own child dying!?
