I read this earlier today on fanfiction,net. As a fan of Billy Joel I say kudos into turning a great song into a premise for a great fic. while I like the your action, adventure drama fics, it's nice to see something a little more down to earth and more slice of life. You did a great thing starting off with a simple idea which is two musicians who meet and take things further. Also I've only seen this pair done only once before so you get points for making a hetero Octavia fic and points for originally in shipping. I wanna see where this goes.

I'm an unimaginative brony, so when it comes to titles I just go with whatever comes first. If it helps, Piano Man was only the inspiration for the start of the plot. I was originally going to have it be a story called The Power of Music, but it didn't fit into how it starts.
I hope you can look passed the title and still enjoy the fic, if not then there are tons of other things around you could read.

Honestly, I've always been an adventure or horror writer, so when I took the leap into Romance and Slice of Life, I went in mostly blind, as you can tell by the quality of The Dragon and The Changeling. I don't know if it counts as you being predictable, but whenever there is a romance with a decent part based around a bar, tavern, or other similar foundation, there is bound to be a "drunks hitting on her and we don't like it" scene. By "we don't like it" I refer to both the one being hit on and the one who is to be with them.

I see where you're coming from, certain things just sorta happen inevitably when it comes to stories. I suppose this was just one of those things.
gets gob playing cello starts to recognize feelings around chapter6 or 7 acts on feeling around chapter 10 or 11
gets into a fight bout chapter16 and runs
someone gets hurt in the nest chapter
so on and so forth till the end
if you keep up tish pace of about 1500 words per chapter
again not just vets of the site able to pick out the plat with very little info

Sir, I must assure you that I'm currently expecting more of this.
The simple solution either start a band or become a chef. If he had his own restaurant he could avoid a piano and as well as afford to quit his vices. The same is true if he becomes a musician. The first idea requires him to get a loan with a fixed interest rate and depending on his credit history I'd say he's get about a 3.4 % rate, not great but not bad. He gets a couple of used ovens and hires a couple of losers (Snips and Snails) as waiters and dishwashers, hires on Octavia to play cello. The second option involves Spike and Tavi getting picked up by a traveling record producer and dumb luck.
