Manus is in the same situation as the Iron King so long ago. A poor being with little power but much ambition. But onto my real points. Manus is a personification of all points of humanity multiplied many times. As shown by his daughters. He isn't alive anymore, his daughters birthed with death. They're literally parts of him like fear, pride a and desire. My most important point is that Manus isn't Sauron. He's not an evil being that seeks to actively destroy all things he sees. The residents of Oolacile found his body, brought it to life and tortured him, ruined him and drove him insane. They deserved what they got. The only bad thing we've ever seen him do was to a people that were torturing him and trying to feed off his primeval humanity. I recommend watching Vaatievidya's latest episode of prepare to cry to grasp his other aspects that we couldn't see in the first game.
