*First story, please bare with me*
Chrysalis' defeat by Shining Armour and Cadence has ruined her once-proud Hive. With most of her subjects either slain or scattered across Equestria and her Hive hopelessly low on provisions, the only way she can survive is to seek outside help.
Seeing no other choice, Chrysalis sends some of her remaining Changelings to appeal to Celestia for help, hoping for some measure of mercy from the alicorn.
But then, a new visitor appears in the Changeling Queen's darkest hour; one that offers both help and a chance at vengeance. But what is his grudge with Celestia, and why is he helping a Changeling?
No matter who Chrysalis ultimately chooses as her savior, there will be a price to pay.

I love this idea, it's so original and well written Chrysalis herself is a great character here, interesting point about the imprisonment.

Thanks! The bit about NMM and Discord was inspired by the fic "Round Two" (author escapes me) on this site. There's a scene where Celly straight up threatens to KILL Chrysalis if she threatens Equestria again.
I got to thinking that Celly's (and Luna's, to a lesser extent) cheerful, almost playful demeanor may be a sort of alter ego for those she loves--that is, her subjects. It keeps everypony happy, and helps stave off a literal "cult of personality" from developing around her. She doesn't want to be feared or deified, she wants to be looked up to and loved.
But if you make Celly get serious...it's not pretty for you.
