The MLP community has been a great source of happiness and joy. These stories are my attempt to give something back to those who have so enriched my life.

Twilight finally made some time in her busy schedule to go book shopping. Everything is perfect, and she is as happy as can be – until Discord shows up. He tells her that she’s wasting her time looking for books to read, and claims that even books lead more exciting lives than she does.

Twilight finds all of this rather difficult to believe – that is, until she finds out about the secret lives of books…

A story with a moral AND a punch line! Short, sweet, and nicely done.

This needs a sequel.

Ugh...
Another weather report opening.
:raritydespair: Why does every story I read have a weather report opening?

I'll continue reading, but you'll have to earn an upvote after that.

*reading ensues*

Okay, that ending is worth it.
You earned your vote. ^.^

Superbly done, I love the punch line, and the Cheshire Cat finale is very entertaining.

You're right! I'd never thought of that before, but you are absolutely right. Next time I'll find a different way to get the story started. Thanks for pointing that out.

Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks for the upvote!

I really hadn't considered that. You may be right, though! Perhaps it is time Twilight went off to show Daring Do how it's done. That would certainly be fun to write.

Soooo ... what about those sitting at home reading fanfiction on the internet? We're not even leaving our houses to go buy books, we're waiting for them to be digitally delivered to us from the comfort of our chairs.

Twilight's response should be "Considering the number of adventures that happen to me, I couldn't handle the extra stress of actually going out and looking for them. Besides, what if I missed an adventure that was suppose to happen to me because I went out looking?"

Personally, I call that winning. That is hard to beat. (It also helps if you have good snack foods handy.)

However, I can say that my books have led exciting lives. Some of them spent years with me in China. My set of Daring Do books (I own all 3, and hope they write more!) traveled with me to Jamaica last month. It's good to see them getting out of the house and going on adventures.

If anything comes up while she's gone, Celestia can just outsource the problem to Derpy. No worries! After all, she's always eager to help.

I admit I didn't expect the ending, but it fit beautifully. This was really funny. Bravo.

I can imagine Rainbow either going insane or going on a grand adventure to discover the truth about his stories.

going on a grand adventure to discover the truth

Now there's a story I'd like to read! I like that idea.

I admit that I normally hate reading stories involving Discord and was just going to skim over it in all honesty but infact I read it from start to end and let me just say that I actually found myself enjoying it. The plot, overall was a simple concept but it still got me thinking about a few things (like how I should get out more as I waste so many hours just reading either fanfiction or books). I thought your characterisations of Twilight and Discord were on par and somehow the way you presented Discord just made me not hate him so much and you know maybe just give him a chance (I'm even starting to read him in more fics now).

The ending threw me off a little bit as it was a little unexpected but once again I really enjoyed this and thanks for making me smile (again)!:yay:

Yes, the ending was a bit unexpected, but it just seemed like something Discord would do. There is always more to him than meets the eye!

I can see why it would be easy to hate him, though. I think I always liked him because I was a big fan of Q from Star Trek, and Q and Discord are more or less the same being (played by the same actor, even). I eventually came to realize Q was trying to help mankind, not destroy them; he was a friend - albeit a bit unpredictable and (at times) childish. My fascination with Q transferred to Discord.

There are some really touching fan fictions on this site about Discord. The fans have done a great job with him, I think!

Fuller review here, but in brief: some really nice Discord dialogue (which is comparatively rare) and fun world-building, too. What keeps it to good rather than great is how waffly it is. That paragraph about the book's binding is at least twice the length it needs to be. Still, Discord annoying Twilight is good enough for an upvote anyway.

Personally, if asked, I would turn down every offer. I prefer the familiar and routine. I don't really interact with people that much, aside from a select few. Mostly neighbors. A dog, Maju, and my two hamsters, Harry and Larry.I hope it never changes.
