Saltiness can be a little too concentrated if not enough water is drunk (or if it's morning pee), but it can also be rather tame. Both pee and sweat are salty and have a funny aftertaste, so, as far as taste goes, they are pretty similar for me.
Pee is salty too.
And from what I've heard, horse poop isn't even close to as nasty (both taste-wise and health-wise) as poop of omnivores and carnivores. It's mostly grass. I've never had a chance to verify that though.
Funny thing, I don't remember ANY scat stories where taste of waste is explicitly tame (while not being candy). Even when horses poop, taste is assumed to be extremely bitter and often unhealthy to digest, like human waste. I guess it's because scat writers don't study the subject too deeply or assume that mild taste won't be as fun, and other writers just avoid the subject like plague.
Judging by the scores your stories receive, not too many people care about the difference in taste. All they care about is where it came from.
Maybe you should try writing a story with realistic waste having mild taste. That would be interesting. Twilight approves:
