It was only a partial in the US. By my best guess, you would have had to be in the Bearing Sea, north of Alaska, to see the whole eclipse. I wasn't fully prepared, and only got a brief look between work and play rehearsal. . . .

I must admit I'm a bit jealous... the weather here was perfect for viewing it (the only sunny day between 5 rainy days before and another 4 predicted coming up) and I was stuck inside the whole time!
On the subject of eclipses, here're a few other items of interest:
Story: A Total Eclipse Of The Fun. I know your reading list is getting swamped, but you definitely need to read this one if you haven't yet - it's really, really good.
Upcoming North American eclipses: 21-Aug-2017 (total), 14-Oct-2023 (annular), 8-Apr-2024 (total). I've been particularly looking forward to the 2017 one since it'll be close enough for me to take a day trip to the path of totality, and you'll probably like the 2024 one for the same reason.

That is a nice bit of culture shock to throw at the ponies, and it seems rarely done. Other bits I've thought about before are the wastefulness of Western Society (heck, even packaging), or the sheer number of things available at even a modest retail store.
I've been considering a one-shot (or part of a story) where a pony goes to Wal-Mart, and just can't handle it.

This was a fun concept, though I think it could have stood to be a bit longer. Also, while I can see Sunset Shimmer freaking out over something like this given that such an event in Equestria would usually mean some evil thing is doing evil things, I'm pretty sure Equestria has biology and other sciences...just weirder cause they'd take into account magic.
Anyway, I rather enjoyable read.
