Very nicely done, I wish it wasn't a one-shot though, because I love this idea.

But I wonder what happened with the real baby Spike? Is he now in the other dimension? And how will the other Twilight react?
5257902 Yeah. Apparently, in this universe, Spike really is a baby.
5258028 That's what I was thinking. If the commissioner ever set aside a couple thousand words to cover the baby Spike's story then he would likely replace normal Spike in the normal reality.
Going farther in that idea, Twilight would eventually notice this new Spike couldn't talk and was incontinent and likely look into fixing it.
For now though, it's left to the readers' imagination.

5258053 I think the biggest question is, would Twilight be more focused on fixing her universe connector machine, or taking care of the alternative universe Spike?
I think the bigger question is: Does Spike even want to go back home? I certainly wouldn't. This story deserves a spot on my favorites.
5258330 Well, considering he's getting more affection in that alternative universe, I think he'd want to stay. Though, perhaps, by taking care of the AU Spike, regular Twilight will start to realize she needs to treat her Spike with more respect.
5258840 True. She tends to be pretty bitchy towards him sometimes. It's no wonder the poor guy has severe self-esteem issues. I can't help but wonder what the others' greatest fears are. That would make for a good "Saw"-esque story, with Discord in the role of Jigsaw.

D'aww. This was very adorable. Kind of gives a feeling of what Twilight may have been like as a mother figure. This is something I've really wanted to see since Spike seems like he would be nearly as old as the CMC but is treated like he is an adult.
It was interesting to visit twilight's basement lab. The opening of the story was done well with great suspense. The descriptions of Spike with the candle coupled with his curiousity certainly got everything moving in the right direction.
The story's ending leaves you thinking how having a non-speaking, baby dragon at this point would impact how far along Twilight would be with her studies. Perhaps she'd never reach Princess status due to spending her time with friends while protecting Spike? You never know. :)
