Let me see if I interpreted this correctly. At the end of our world, our main character died and went to a black void. In the void he realized his thoughts could come to life, and so he imagined what would eventually become Equestria.
I really like the "you create your own afterlife from scratch" style of Heaven idea you are playing with.

We've seen clearly from the show that Twilight can travel through time, even if only temporarily, using magic. And since this guy created magic and is many many times more powerful than Twi, why wouldn't he have some control over time?
