I seen the movie too, but i know thing that the movie didn't tell about both M.U.T.O and Godzilla that the author could used.
The Muto as both explain in both movie and in this story are anicent parasite. what they don't tell you that they are blind. The see though by ultrasonic sounds , if you not sure i'm tell the truth look at this link.

They describe that Muto EMP is to turn off Godzilla atomic breath, because Godzilla spikes work like a electrical current to active his Atomic Breath.
Even though Dr. Ichiro Serizawa said in the movie that Godzilla is hunt the muto. It actual that Godzilla is hunting for revenge for the muto's races for kill his races.
The echolocation call was the Muto couple, but in the novelization is wasn't only for that. It was to lure godzilla in to a trap for the M.U.T.O's to kill him so the babies would feed on his carcasses.

What i'm getting at all this is I like the story as a recreation of Godzilla (2014), but like Activist Nightwatch said, You need to throw a different loop to spices things up a bit. Having the M.U.T.O. feed on magic instead of radiation is different, but you going to turn more thing up. He have to show both Godzilla and the M.U.T.O'S are threat that not the mane six nor the princesses are going to handle well.
This chapter was good to show Dr.Ichiro Serizawa ponified version, but if the other character suppose to have an impact you have to have them involved in both a physical and emotional level.
Remember the first teaser from both the comic-con and the official teaser made Godzilla seem just as much a threat than the muto. these teaser should help inspiration for your other chapter here the two teaser.

I also suspected that the MUTO was blind so I gave it "Aura Vision", which allowed it to sense potential meals but I kept that it needed echolocation to "see" other things. I also knew about how in the novel their EMP attacks could be used to stop the Big-G's signature move. And your help is very appreciated! It gives a warm feeling knowing others are enjoying this ^3^
5676529 wait this stuff wasn't common knowledge? oh wait i guess i didn't pick it up till around the 50th or so time. They did seem to be ignoring people a whole LOT untill they made sound. and they were able to hear stuff alot easier than I imagined. Such as in the case where near the end he drops a small brick and the big momma hears him.
