I definitely prefer transformation stories where its just fun, none of the 'its irreversable', kills them, breaks their mind or stuff like that. You can just enjoy it without worry.

I like to write dark TF scenes when I'm reading a lot of dark fics. I suppose you can thank the numerous comedy fics I've seen recently for allowing me to be light and silly here, without forcing ponies into existences they don't want.
I like to write both, as it lets me explore the concept to its fullest. If we only focused on the happy, there's so much to be had from the sad/dark. I just like to think about all the possibilities.

The way I envision it, is that each bottle is enchanted with a spell for certain transformations. Thus why Twilight asked in Dildoshy if it came in 'Strapon'. It's an individualized TF, catering to specific fetishes. Twilight was thorough and bought a bunch of different ones.
I suppose if it wasn't enchanted, it could change the user to fit their own deep desires, so if Rarity always wondered what it would be like to be a dress, and she accidentally used some, she could become a dress.
