ch. 23 problems

A woobat landing on Midnight startled him. After realizing what had happened, He gave the pokemon a small pat on the head before it flew off.

It was very late, and Midnight was having trouble staying awake. Normally he’d be fully awake at this point, but ever since he started helping Lea, he had been awake more during the day than at night.

He was starting to drift off again when Angela came stumbling down the stairs. She crashed into one wall. “Angela, are you okay?”

Angela turned her head towards Midnight. She stumbled toward him before trying to attack him. Fortunately, she was so off balance that she missed him. Angela attacked again, only getting close enough that he had to quickly move out of the way. Midnight lost his balance and fell to the ground. Angela turned towards him and almost used Night Slash, but the woobat that had landed on him used Gust. This stopped her enough for Midnight to get up and pin her down.

“Sol, absol sol!”

“Can you get me a pokemon that can help me translate what she’s saying?” Midnight asked the woobat.

I- try.’ He heard in his head. ‘- not- good at-.

Surprised at first, Midnight responded, “That’s good enough for me. What’s she saying?”

--inks- the one- -ed-.”

“Can you repeat that? All I got from that was she thinks something the one somethinged.”

‘thi- yo- - -ne- kill- -rents.

“Uh… please tell me I’m wrong when you’re saying she thinks I killed her parents.”

Sor-.’

“Oh for the love of-.” Angela jumped on Midnight. He had loosened his grip on her just enough that she got out. The few attempts she made at attacking him missed. The final attempt, though, was going to hit him dead on if it weren’t for the woobat’s help. It used Gust on her again and before she recovered it brought over a bulbasaur which used sleep powder on Angela.

“Thanks for the help.” Midnight thanked the woobat. “Can you wake me up when she wakes up, because I’m ready to sleep to.”

Some of the powder had landed on Midnight as well, and it didn’t take much to put him to sleep. As he fell asleep on the ground, the glowing form of the woobat landed on him and wished him goodnight. Or, as he would have heard it: “Woo-swoo.”

“Did we really have to keep her from leaving her own home?” Ire asked Grumpig.

“Yes, you do want to get back at her, right?”

“Well yes, but…”

“But what? If she has the chance to leave the city, she’ll take it. That umbreon wouldn’t risk staying here if she could help it.”

Ire agreed, but she still didn’t like Grumpig’s plan. “She’s got protection from the police in this town. That pokemon your cat like friend told us about told us about was working for them and he had been following her.”

“Can I suggest one thing?” Grumpig asked.

“What would that be?” Ire asked harshly.

“We refer to the umbreon by a name?”

“I would if I could remember it.” she retorted. “The officers guarding our cell told me her name, but I didn’t bother with remembering. All I can remember is it started with an L.”

“How about we refer to her as L then.”

“Good enough for me.” Ire said.

“Alright then. So L has the police on her side, but many of them were hurt when Mightyena broke you out, so there aren’t as many to help. Besides, I’ve found many of my… comrades from Earth. They’ll be more than enough to help us with your your revenge.”

“Remind me again why you agreed to help? You’re not really getting much in return.”

Grumpig smirked. “Oh I’m getting more than enough, just you wait and see.”

“What do you mean by that?” Ire inquired.

“Well I get food, a shelter, found some of my old acquaintances, and got to learn more about your kind. Soon I might be able to gain the same level of importance here as I had back where I used to live.”

“You’d let us be a part of that too right?” Bright Ire stared down Grumpig.

“O-of course!” She replied. “I couldn’t even come close to getting there without your help.”

“That’s good. Hey Quarry!”

Quarry looked up at Ire. The look in his eyes made her shiver a little, but she couldn’t figure out why. “We should hit the hay. It’s past midnight and if we want to stop at Blackberry's tomorrow, we’ll need to leave early.”

Quarry gave a grunt and headed up to where they were sleeping.

“Is it just me, or has Quarry started talking less recently?” Ire asked.

“Don’t ask me. You’ve known him longer. Though I would suggest it’s because he’s quiet to help you concentrate with your training.”

“I guess…”

“Oh, and by the way, I found another pokemon I knew from my old team. He was one of the strongest and he just happens to have met another of our best ‘mons a few days ago.”

“Oh really? Where is he?” Ire asked, eager to meet the new recruit.

Grumpig left and brought back the pokemon she had found. “Cryo.” Ire heard it say.

“Perfect! He’ll just make us stronger!” Ire said delightedly.

“Oh yes!” Grumpig agreed. “Now all we need is that Absol and L will stand no chance. No one will!”

Somewhere else in Equestria:

The delcatty woke up with a start. Last time she had done that was when her trainer had been in danger. She shook her linoone friend awake. “What’s going on?”

Delcatty tried her best to show the panicked state she was in, But her friend only wanted to sleep. “Listen, we can leave in the morning. I have no idea how late it is, but I bet it’s not even close to the time we should wake up. Unless we are being attacked, or the area around us is plagued with fire, let me sleep!”

The linoone was asleep again in a few minutes, but the delcatty walked around for a few minutes before coming back to her friend. She knew something was wrong, but she didn’t know what, and she didn’t like that.

Author's Note:

sorry for the shortness of the chapter. I didn't want to really go into day 23 yet and I was having a little bit of writers block.
next chapter will be longer, I promise.
