Just have them respond like they would normally, instead of going through each one's reaction like a character checklist. Except when they do respond, they act differently. Not enough to confirm anything, but just enough to check if everyone's alright. Then Rainbow being the smart one now (air quotes) figures it out after they separate, sometime after she's buried by books in the library while trying to work out some complex mathematical thing that she thought might help her routine. (I'm an egghead!) Then she can frantically fly all over town stressing out like Twilight, to warn the others not to incite a panic. And then she runs into each of the others, in very atypical situations. Like I dunno, Twilight sleeping in a tree, while AJ bucks apples nearby with all the driving force of a newborn kitten. (then gets upset when she disturbs a single leaf)
you have rushed there a little bit, but it still isn't bad story.

I wish this could continue. It’s such a fun story idea. I like how you made the personality swaps consistent, as in Twilight and Rainbow have swapped their personalities, same goes for Fluttershy and Applejack, and then Pinkie and Rarity. It’s two each, and I’m curious to know why you chose to swap their personalities that way.
