Derpy Hooves is an often misunderstood member of Ponyville. No one understands her, and she is often ridiculed for being stupid and "Derpy" despite being rather intelligent. This story calls her Ditzy rather than Derpy, though we are unsure of her real name. It's a story of her struggles in living a life of shame and mockery.

UPDATED!!! I did some major revisions to where this story is going, and plan on making it into an ongoing series. :) The characters listed are ones I am loosely planning on incorporating into it, but will refine this list as the story progresses. I'm planning at least 6-8 chapters of this before the story I am telling is finished, but it may very well cary on beyond that if I have a fan base that wants me to continue. I will try to publish them weekly. Thanks you all for the kind reviews you have given me so far.
Also, this is still being edited, and I am actually looking actively for editor or two to further refine my writing. I know I am a good wordsmith, but I am not perfect by any stretch. And just like everyone else, I have a hard time catching all of my own mistakes. Please contact me if you are interested in editing for me.

I would like to comment on this letting you all know that it's indeed a shorter chapter than I would have liked to publish, but I chose the ending of the chapter for it's location, not for the length, as I WANTED to end in another cliffhanger. ;) Don't worry, from now on it shouldn't have any more cliffhangers. hehe.
Wow, I'm interested to see where this story goes! Poor Ditzy, I hope she is okay! One small note, after the part that goes "the meadow where Fluttershy had her home" you switch from the past tense to the present tense for a few lines, which is a bit jarring. But other than that, quite good! I hope you post more soon!

Okay, so she's alive and willing to stay that way. That's the easy bit; the hard part is dealing with her idiot relatives and loutish acquaintances. Good thing for her that she's got the Mane Six in her corner, eh?
And I will deal with many of those in the coming chapters. This story is far from over. But at least you all don't hate me for (presumably) killing off Derpy.

Very nice story. I for one would love to see it continued a bit farther, if only to explore Dash and Dee's relationship more, and maybe have Dee get to meet and befriend the other three members of the main cast. <^^>

well...I think I will be further pursuing this story. I feel there is more to tell, but haven't fully developed the next portion in my mind yet (making it very hard to write). I will be putting this on the side burner for a while, up-dating when I CAN, but probably not as regularly as I am now. :) I have 2 other series that I REALLY want to get writing on!!! I'm excited to bring them to you all!
This was cute, and I would like to see more of how this develops. How do the other ponies in town react? Does this really become a romance, or are they happy being friends? I have to say, Ditzy is one of my favorite characters since she seems so ripe for interpretation, and I almost hope they don't really develop her personality in the show much so it leaves her open for that. I love giving her sympathetic treatment in my own stories like you've done here.
There are some grammar/spelling issues. I don't offer to pre-read for many people, but you've got the right combo I look for: interesting plot, chapters short enough that they don't take long to read, updates not too often, and not so full of mistakes that I'd basically be rewriting it. If you're looking for edit help, think about it. You can check out my watch list and stories to see if you think we'd be on the same wavelength.
I used to hate Dee and thought she was stupid but when I read this it taught me a important lesson... Don't judge a book by its cover! Now I love Dee she is one of my Fav charactors Thank Ninjeneer for showing me and others who the real Dee is!
