Shayzorr

Curious but lazy.

T

A story about a hunter who has become aware of a threat to his way of life and travels south to find out how things really are, about the creature he chooses to educate himself, and the choices he must make when he learns the facts.

An entry to the Equestria Daily Outside Insight fanfic contest, where the objective was to write a story from the viewpoint of a creature that was not a pony. I am not sure about the tag, but it was the closest one I could pick. Tagged teen for abduction and a mild fight description; better safe than sorry.

I like it, it's really cool.

Thank you, for both the compliment and the pun.

Okay, interesting idea, however I felt it would have been better had it been some other species rather than Windigoes (I just seem them more as predators personally, if they have any cognition at all.) Do like how Derpy was portrayed though. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Trust me, 7.5 makes me happy after all the procrastination, so thank you and yay!

I can accept the predator viewpoint, which makes this pretty much a 'what-if' story. I'd probably have the same reaction if someone wrote a similar story about timberwolves. Like other writers before me, I'll cheerfully claim that many things in the windigo episode turn out to be either superstition or myth. Even Starswirl the Bearded can be wrong. :twilightsheepish:

Why windigoes? I have not ran into too many windigo stories yet. I know they are there, but I have missed them all thus far. Now that I have commited my first wordcrime, I'll try to seek them out and check what others have done with them. Not having read those stories beforehand prevented me from accidentally or–Luna forbid–deliberately plagiarizing them, which is also a part of the reason I did not pick changelings or griffons.
Besides, after 5000 words I was in too deep to start over and decided to stay the course to the end.

But the actual reason I picked windigoes is that one of them reacted visibly when the three aides were bonding in the episode. Without that one-second animation I would have either picked another species or gone bowling. :derpytongue2:
