This story is a sequel to A Squire's Tail- Lunar Guards
No one ever said training to be a guard was easy, as Sun Chaser is soon learning. Waking up at the crack of dawn for practice, annoying roommates, snarky bat ponies, training accidents...and that's just the beginning of his adventures(or misadventures) as a guard in training. But Chase is determined, he will see this through to the end and make his dream of being a full fledged Equestrian guard a reality. Provided it doesn't kill him first.
Sequel to Lunar Guards. Reading that one is not mandatory, but probably a good idea. This one should still make sense though.
It's more Slice of Life/Adventure than right out Adventure, but it won't let me add both tags. The teen rating is simply because of some language/humour that may occur and nothing more.
Actually its a damn decent piece of work. Likin' the banter and antics going on between them though Am somewhat confused where, if you are doing it like so, all these events happen in accordance towards the canon episodes.
Most have their events and point of views in accordance to what happened in the show when it was relevant like the time of the gala (what were the trainees doing during what was said to be a day off), discord, the invasion, etc. But not everyone follows it though.
Regardless, I'm very much enjoyin' the story so far, Keep it up.

I might have only been briefly mentioned it in the first chapter(and if not the first chapter here, then in the beginning of the prequel but I'm sure it got mentioned somewhere xD), but it takes place after the events of the Changeling Invasion, so season three onwards. And most of that season didn't have anything interesting happening in Canterlot that I remember, all in Ponyville/other places.
But I'm glad you like it.
Now that I'm off that horrid afternoon shift maybe I can try updating it again.
So just having read this now, I think the main reason the story hasn't gotten the attention you want is because people just don't know about it. Try sticking it in a couple of groups and see how that turns out.
On another note, critique. I suggest putting line breaks between the time shifts ([ hr] without the space I believe), just to give a bit more definition to the cuts. Also there are a couple to/too instances where they're used in the wrong context but that's rather negligible, really.
All in all it's a great story that could use more chapters, so get chaptering!

I have to say, this story did remind me of The Golden Armor at first but I'm glad it's taken a different turn.

Admittedly I'm playing bit fast and loose with the time lines though because good gracious, the show bounces all over the place so know what's happening when is, difficult(especially since it seems like it's spring/summer 99% of the time in Equestria).

So then my little theory that Discord could be behind the missing objects and sleeplessness is still valid. Woo!
I'm calling it now that Silver Sword was a friend of Chase's dad, hence why he was so against joining the guard.
Either that or it is his dad, who managed to escape and take on a new identity. I mean, it sounds sort of blacksmith-y.
Hearts and Hooves would be in late summer if you lived in the southern hemisphere.
