I actually considered this. My headcanon with magic is, you can lift things with it, but you can't actually generate a field with a physical presence. Maybe this show contradicts me here, I don't know. Regardless, I doubt it would feel as good as actually jamming something up there, and it definitely would not be as fun to write about.
I'm also wondering what parts of the story you found funny, because aside from the description, I wasn't really trying.

Actually, that part originally foreshadowed a part of the story.
After Luna came gloriously, I was going to have a scene where Maud, as a child, got a super fancy telescope for Christmas, looked at the moon through it, saw Luna doing the deed with a rock, and developed her lifelong rock obsession.
I could not get that scene to work for the life of me (read: I didn't even try, because I didn't take writing this story seriously at all), but I kept that part of the description because it was funny.
