Should I be looking for any major changes in the story? Just wondering!
RIP Scoodle (in half).
A memorable chapter. Admittedly mostly for the moodwhiplash, but there's some funbits sprinkled about and fun BJ growth/learning.
6385872 No. We decided against major revisions.
Well that chapter really brought home what threats Crusaders have to deal with in the Hoof. Brutal!
6385880
Woot! You're finally doing it, then!
Best of luck to you in the future, and remember...Somber saves bronies!
P.S:
Are you planning on releasing a hard copy? If you do...please tell me! I'll buy at least two - one loaner, and one I can have enshrined. At 1.6 million words, it deserves it.
I plan on rereading this soon. I only spent the last three years reading it. But its definatly worth the reread.
6385853 I've not read it (I will once it's uploaded fully) but I've also seen this opinion thrown around several times. Fallout: Equestria was an incredible story that maintained a sense of well-structured meaning and pacing. It was very well polished and respected itself. I've heard that Project Horizons however, taking heavy inspiration from FoE (duh) starts in a similar way. But near the end it becomes exceptionally fanfiction-y. Like, crank everything to 11 and do ALL the crazy things. Screw keeping things grounded and consistent.
I'm hoping this isn't the case. But after all the reviews I've read saying this and the fanart I've seen made over the last year makes me think it will be.
So many dislikes... haters gonna hate. This is a very good and emotional story which I would recommend to read. It has many complex characters, a likeable protagonist (yay for Blackjack!) and a pretty interesting plot.
6386032 While that is true it isn't sudden (in my opinion anyway). It starts pretty sane and stable (heh) but the stakes really start to ramp up over time
*Le gasp* Oh my gosh I can't believe it! That didn't take as long as I expected XD This is going to be probably the largest story on Fimfiction, if not, definately one of the biggest!
So NERVE-EXCITED!!!!! Congrats Somber!!!!!!
A happy feeling at the end of a chapter. I get the feeling I shouldn't be expecting any more of that.
You post this I'm fimfiction now? Why wasn't this here before?
Only thing that affected me more was FOE. Hard story very hard.
I started reading this story over two years ago now, and now that it's completed and being uploaded here, I'm honestly a bit stunned that it's come to an end. For anyone who's debating whether or not to read this, I'll recommend it- with a warning; those susceptible to intense emotions, beware. Project Horizons starts off grim of course, much in line with the original FoE. However as time goes by and you get into the later chapters, it gets to an ungodly level of darkness with little snippets of happiness to lull you into a false sense of security, to keep the depressing parts that soon follow from shredding your heart. Sure, it's over the top as hell sometimes, especially when we think about
The Celestia, the Core, etc. etc......but hell, that's part of the appeal. PH is a deeply emotional and intense ride through a Wild, Wild Wasteland, with as much insanity as could be found in New Vegas and the first FoE.A sincere thank you to you Somber, for irreparable damage to the head and heart! It was a truly unforgettable ride, and Blackjack will always have a place as one of my favorite characters of any fiction.
Hot flaming balls this was quite the learning curve.
I liked Scoodle...
Damn good job, damn good job.
Its nice to learn more about these two. BJ is going to have to toughen up if she wants to survive out in the wastelands.
And P-21... I like him, he seems pretty cool.
Wow... SS... hmm...
Good show man, good show!
I'm so conflicted on whether to read this story or not. On the one hand, I do enjoy Fallout Equestria and want to see what the fuss is about this story, on the other hand I hate dark/tragic/gory stories (which I've heard is true of this story and the tags seem to confirm) and especially hate those that try to be dark/tragic/gory just for the sake of it (I've heard some people say this story is like torture porn, others say that is an overstatement).
I suppose I will do what was recommended to Jake The Army Guy and read the first 6 chapters at least.
6386155 You'll probably want to make it a little further in than that. The first Act is tame compared to the rest.
Dammit, I haven't even finished the original Fallout: Equestria yet, and now I have to start on this one?!
...
Bring it on
6386068 I'm sure it will be in the top five longest stories but I doubt it's longer than The Chase and Diaries of A Madman
6386130 BlackJack toughen up? You have obviously never read this fic before. You are in for a ride.
6385789
Think again.
6386155
Start with the original - "Fallout: Equestria". See if you are good with it after a chapter or two of reading. If you're interested then read more if ya want. It does have some dark moments. The first time I read it I found it somewhat shocking and had to take a break after only a few chapters. I wasn't expecting such detail in the violence. I think KKat really wanted to make sure the wasteland was not seen lightly by the audience. I'm glad I kept reading though. It's one of the best stories I ever read - including published works.
"Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons" is a side story to the original. While I totally enjoyed it I wouldn't recommend starting on this before reading the original story. Otherwise a few things - especially the groundwork and details of "the past" - would be lost on you.
6386088
At the time the epilogue was completed Project Horizons was 1.8 million words long. That's longer than "Harry Potter", "Lord of the Rings", and "The Narnia Chronicles" combined.
There's a pretty good chance.
6386227 Nope, but I have heard many many things about it, both good and bad.
I'm sure this ride will be one hell of a good one. Cause this will be the longest thing I've ever read.
And I've read some long ass shit.
Alright, read the whole story on GDocs, time to re-read it on Fimfiction. Awesome
But really tho, anyone who hasnt read this story yet, you are in for something good. Somber and his team did really well on this story. Be prepared to have all the Fallout: Equestria you can handle :)
Ok sure there are a lot of problems with this story, but there are a lot of bugs in Fallout 3 and skyrim but did that stop them from being amazing games? No it didn't. When you are presented with something with as much substance as this you cannot be hung up on every little discrepancy or plothole. In a relatively short story there may be only one problem, but you would be able to look past it because, "It's only one mistake" but multiply that length by however many time you need to make it as long as this odyssey and the problems will be multiplied as well. It's not of worse quality, but there are many more things to pick at. When going into reading a fic as long as this one, you cannot think like that, or else you have already made up your mind.
Somber, you are an amazing writer and I pray you keep writing. Broken accords is a fantastic story but it seems to have fallen to the wayside and that makes me sad. I hope to see it again.
6386296 Word of advice, before you read a chapter entitled "Black" grab a box of tissues.
6386333 ...
oh good lordy, that title made me cringe.
I know this story is going to wreck me, the original story broke me, and I know this one is going to destroy me ;v;
I'll take your advice... also I love your avatar.
ALL THE FAVES. ALL THE LIKES TAKE THEM ALL!
Time to start reading from the beginning once more
What?! What?! What?!
Shit I'm turning into Stone Cold Stev Austin...
6386032
Funnily enough, the same guy that thought Horizons goes off the rails in a really bad way also thought that the original FoE fell flat on its face at the end as well, though nowhere near as badly as Horizons. And from his descriptions of, well, basically every single thing related to the Enclave and the final battle (especially where Littlepip literally murders a man in cold blood after promising she wouldn't) I really can't help but agree with him.
6386214 True XD I actually checked right after I posted my last comment XD Huh, Diaries of a Madman looks pretty good though...
Man, I can't even imagine the size of Project Horizons if it's ever printed XD
Oh my god yes. I heard this fic finished, but I never though it be put up hear so soon. Time to delve once again into this bloated trainwreck of a fic!
6386391 Thanks, I love it too. And yes, this story will destroy you. Multiple times while reading I had to stop because I couldn't see through my tears. Reading "Black" being one of those times.
6386678 Its hard to make me cry, like, really hard. Fo:E made me tear up but I didn't cry ful blown. But I fel the pain in my heart reading it. And if this story tops even that, jesus Christ, I'm getting sad thinking about it D'x
6386640 it'd be freaking huge!
I'd still buy a hard copy though.
already read most of it, left it to dust after (what i presume) the 4/5 of it's completition. now I should finish it...
We're can I find the original "Fallout: Equestria" ya'll keep talking about that lead's to this side story?
6386856
Here it is:
http://www.fimfiction.net/story/119190/fallout-equestria
6386856 This is it.
6385491 Yes, the situation of the Stalions is the result of the inhibitants actions and not directly because of the social experiments.
But i think you mixed up what happened (or i remember wrong. need to search the chapter to be sure..)
As far as i remember:
Social experiment: succesor model. Ponies get their parents Jobs. As a result there was always an Overmare. This and other problems caused some tensions with the stalions. The Stalions then saw their "chance" for better treatment, when the Overmare's succesor was a colt and with that a switch to an Overstalion. Understandingly the stalions were pissed, when said colt died under strange conditions and rebelled. Demanding for the Overmare to step down and taking everyone hostage by manipulating the air ventilation, (SPOILER!!! Which BJ used, when the stable became infected) The Rebellion was brutally ended and the overmare took that as argument, why stallions shouldn't have any kind of power -> becoming the p1-20/U1-20 system
6386876 Is there any order to read the Fallout: Equestria from the first story to the latest story? I'm new to this whole series I know grammar sucks oh well
6386916
It is best to read the original first. It sets up all the world for the side stories. As for the others to read, there is no order, and most are self contained to the most part with specific events happening across them, such as the major events that happen in the original (not gonna spoil anything for ya). I'd say the best of the side stories are this one, Pink Eyes, Murky Number 7, and Heroes. Of course, that is my opinion.
6386079
Probably because he was busy writing the story instead of wasting a whole months uploading it and disrupting some of his readers' reading habits. Besides, its arguably easier to write on GDocs.
I can guarantee this is going to be one of the longest stories on the site.
6386957 OK a couple of things (#1 FOE is the mares payback for the stallions did to them?) (#2 is it taged as mature for the killing or for the sex) like I said I'm new to the whole FOE
6386071
Hope and happiness is the worst thing you can have when reading this story. Project Horizons will literally f**k its anus with Deus' Canon and then sh*t on it, multiple times. Yeah, its really not all that healthy.
Just a note of interest, why are there less views than upvotes?
Question for everyone:
How do you pronounce EC-1101?
personally, I say E-C-one-one-oh-one
6387023 oh, ok. Good thing I was planning to read it in it's google docs, but now that it's here now, better for me, as I can read at a steady pace while it's updated. I have to read the original FE though
6387047
I usually say E-C-Eleven-Oh-One!
