You know, I had been looking forward to him telling the classic tale of the alien collective, seeking to assimilate whole planets, like the one trapped in the Arctic in at least the first two cinematic renditions of The Thing, like the one from the 50's/60's, John Carpenter's from the 80's, and (possibly, but I wouldn't know) the remake from 2004. John Carpenter's The Thing is an, at least implied, sequel to the original, while I've heard The Thing 2004 is a remake of John Carpenter's film. In truth, if it was announced that a new remake was being made, I'd probably look forward to it, since it's my favorite franchise in existence.
