Applejack travels alone down an old, dusty, well traveled road. The end of her long journey is near. Soon, she will finally be able to lie down and rest with her friends and family. She only needs to climb one final hill, so long as she can find the strength to reach its top.

But she just feels so tired.

This. Was. Awesome. I love how poetic this is! It really make the whole thing a lot more interesting. The only thing I don't get is the "falling asleep". What is it?! I need to know!!!

Anyway, 10/10 all the way.

Death. The road is life, sleep being the eventual death. "A final resting place."

I like the tag. A lot. Far better than the alternative.

Another champion story. Well done.

Well done! Very well done!

This story is so strong, in more ways than one. I love the metaphorical setup of the story and the way it represents life. And I love the last line of the story, how it explains Applejack's drive in just one sentence. A strong, beautiful, motivating, and moving story like this is what beings warmth and bonding to people, and is exactly what the fandom needs. A well-deserved favorite, a toast, and a big, big, big thank you for writing this

4776075 "Sleep" is the metaphor the author used to indicate death. After Applejack climbs the "last hill" (which is supposedly meant to represent whatever she needs to overcome before her death), she will die, and lay herself to a sleep that she deserves to take after her journey.

Oooh, I seeee!!! So, if I think of it like this, would it make sense to the story?
So basically, everyone is unable to sleep, but sleep is finally granted to whomever may be traversing when they reach the final hill.

Yeeeaaaah, that probably makes no sense.

4780873 Well, not exactly. The story mentions that other ponies have "slept" before Applejack, implying that their journeys ended (they died) before AJ. Applejack just have more drive to continue further on her road

Excellent choice of tag.

This was absolutely amazing. The wording and writing style just drew me into the story and wouldn't let go. The metaphor for death was brilliant. And the whole tone was one of sadness, a lonesome yet hopeful journey that every character went through. And the ending leaves us knowing that Applejack can, and will complete this climb.
This is a beautiful story. And it will remain a beautiful story for a very long time. Thank you for writing this.

The writing style this had was very interesting and I enjoyed it very much. I really liked the fact that the undertone of story was definitely a sad one, I didn't feel any sadness as I read only pride and strength of heart.

Nice job :ajsmug:

So passionate in how AJ never stops but continues to move forward. After everything sees witnessed and suffered through the loss of her friends, she moves on.

"Adventure" -- clever and appropriate. Nice to read something original (and well written) on what might be considered a well-worn underlying topic. Definitely worth the read. :ajsmug:

I thought that it was neat that story was about death.

The Adventure tag made me hope that I was wrong about the premise, that I was going to get some sort of fake-out near the end, and everything would be fine.
Only that fake-out never happened, and the story ended up being exactly what I really knew it would be.

In a way, I suppose that mirrors how I feel about my death in general.
I know it'll happen eventually, as it does for everyone, and there's no sense in in pretending otherwise.

But maybe...

Very poetic. Glad I read it.

Honestly, this reminds me of Steven King’s The Dark Tower series. There was a real

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

vibe. Spoiler for the Dark Tower--> With all that that implies.
