Thanks to the vampire fruit bats Sweet Apple Acres has a high quality fertilizer which has increased its apple yield. But with more bat poop than they know what to do what will the Apple Family do with all the extra guano?

I haven't read it all yet but it seems like it's gonna be good, it's just the dialogues are confusing sometimes because it's not written who's saying what.

4731776 For the record I do intend it to be a tad longer than a one shot but what in particular about it makes it seem like a one shot to you? Not to give too much away but they are going to find a few other uses for the guano besides fertilizer and the toilet humor is going to get increasingly over the top as the story goes.

Just the finality of the ending. There isn't anything there to have caught me as a reader to continue. I actually had it marked completed in my mind until I saw you didn't.

4732599 I notice it does have slightly more finality to it than the chapters of my other story but ending it there would leave a lot of unanswered questions like what sort of potion Zecora would want to use Guano for? Will they hire more farm hands due to the increase apple yield? What will Applebloom do during her suspension from school? I suppose with all that in mind I intended it to feel more like the ending of an episode or rather point of view in this case.

Chapter 2 is going to switch point of view to Applejack and Granny Smith, it will take place at the same time Applebloom has her incident at school so they won't know what happened until chapter 3 at the soonest possibly even chapter 4 if I decide to switch point of view to Big Mac in chapter 3. In chapter 2 Applejack and Granny Smith are going to interview applicant to be farmhands for Sweet Apple Acres as well as to help them deal with all the bat poop as well.

I suppose I could leave an authors note to clarify that this does not signify the end of the story but that these point of view switches are going to be a regular occurrence in this story.

I did just see it as an open ending. None of those questions mattered to me as a reader because they read like off-hand comments/filler. I could answer those questions without really going into detail.

You could expand on them to try and make them interesting.

Ex:

(Actually, how did AB know it was for Zecora?)
Zecora has been showing AB some interesting things one could do with potions and has mentioned not all of them are ingested. She was going to drop by after class to ...etc.,etc.

Ex:

First year of good profits in a while? Why hire outsiders when the family needs some things taken care of? The Apple Family is in good shape to keep working the farm themselves. Maybe with some help from their friends, but no need to burn all those extra bits when every year is not certain.

...Or something to that effect. I'm reading this because it has Applejack(according to tags). If you want more readers, you need to find something to draw them in. Maybe see if Applebloom wants to rope the other Crusaders in collecting it(I don't think that's a good idea, but it's an idea).

4733972 There are many uses for bat guano including rumored uses of bat guano in some cosmetic products which I am sure is really going to gross Rarity out which would be quite hilarious to see so a joke about that just might make its way somewhere in the story even if the guano isn't used for that purpose.I guess I meant to imply that Applejack simply told Applebloom to bring the guano to Zecora but that neither Applejack nor Applebloom knew exactly what it was going to be used for just yet. Of course what Applebloom is going to use it for will be revealed later.

As for the profits as you are going to see in the next chapter and possibly in chapter 3 if I show Big Mac's view is that because the increased apple yield is so staggering and there is so much bat guano left over that even with the other mane 6's help it is still not enough to get everything done. And there will be more bat guano than the Apple Family could possibly use themselves. I was thinking of even having them ship guano over to other Apple Family orchards throughout Equestria and them still having an excess.

I have noticed a pattern to my story ideas in that I tend to place the mane character or characters in this case in a rather unlikely situation/situations yet still try to make it believable. In my other story for example Rarity who is the last pony you would expect this to happen to gets a cockroach infestation.

Without giving too much away there are going to be a lot applicants in chapter 2 that are quite frankly not going to be very good and there are some that are going to be a little grossed out about the prospect of handing bat droppings on a daily basis.
