In search for a replacement for his pet Daisy (his rabbit). Doomguy finds himself in Equestria right after Twilight enchanted Smarty Pants with the Want it Need it spell.
Human in Equestria? Check. Trying to find his way home? Check. Surrounded by clueless candy-colored equines? Check. Magically soul-bonded to Twilight Sparkle using dread necromantic magic and an evil artifact? Check.
As a Hunter, Silver Lining has seen nearly everything. When he rescues a wounded mare from a vampire, though, he has little idea what he's getting into...
5186842 I'm honestly convinced that, since Celestia has the power and ability to orchestrate Twilight's rise, she wouldn't leave Cadence with a mortal husband if she could help it. And, honestly, Shining's talent tend towards protection and peace, and for a just person, that's the goal of war.
5187229 It is not, maybe that's the goal for someone participating in it, but that's not the goal of war itself, there is no goal to war. We make the goals and goalposts(or in this case Shining Armor), whether we reach them is another matter entirely. I might not know where war evolved from, but it is probably the worst thing someone with a head too big for themselves came up with. There is no positive side to it, ever.
Very interesting little story here. I think this part probably intrigues me the most:

nicely evocative of Lost Cites. Here's a link to explain a massive number of views.
Necromantic Twilight Sparkle, in an Equestria gone very badly wrong?
6268345 Oh, I was not expecting that.
...maybe I should actually edit the thing... nah.
Still, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for pointing me to the blog. I would have likely been confused.
6268380 More like an attempt to push 'immortal ennui' inside-out. I've got no backstory or setting for this. Your interpretation works just fine.
This was a really clever reversal of the typical "Lost cities-esque" fanfic. Great work!
Not what I expected from a Lost Cities inversion, but it's still great! :D
Huh. Didn't go anywhere, but it's a strong setup regardless.
oh shit, what an ending :D
It took me a while to realize that was not Princess Ember, because she didn't exist when this was written! XD Wow.
