4604843 Sometimes these things don't need explanations. If you can find a way to turn this excuse into an important part of the story, then by all means go ahead. But if it's going to take time and not going to contribute to the overall story then I wouldn't even bother.
By the by, this is a pretty cool story you got here :D It's a bit darker than your last one!

Well when she fed off Discord's love (For Fluttershy, obviously) she also fed on his power. Like when Shining Armour's magic grew weak and died after being fed off on. Also she gaining power from the other ponies she sucked dry. (I kind of got the idea from 'daughter of discord', though in that story there is a better explanation.)
