I always like people that react the way these two do ^. I'm not a father, but I have godchildren, and in place of their father (who, I'm slightly loath to admit, is one of those six-foot-seven guys that looks like a Nordic version of Captain America, he makes me look small and I'm six-foot-four), I'd be more than willing to put a few prospective 'boyfriends' into traction. It's almost funny, actually, because I know, almost 99% certainty, that these guys wouldn't do that if they were in that position themselves.

Because if you've ever been in a situation where you're about to date a girl for the first time, and you meet their father? Or their rather evil-looking uncle? Or just their bench-pressing older brother? It's damn scary. There's a reason for that, and if you ignore that reason, you're a kind of stupid that deserves the consequences

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, they say, but the most consciously violent thing in nature is a parent protecting their child. Because rest assured, if it comes to it, as mild-mannered and sit-at-the-computer-all-day, never even shoplifted before, normal as I am, I will gladly serve time if it means the guy who hurt my god-daughter never walks properly again. Not to mention I will do it in a way that guarantees the effect I desire, in a way that precludes that boy even attempting to fight back, or escape. And no, he'll never see it coming. Then, being the conscientious guy I am, I'll likely turn myself in and explain it all to the police.

As an example that could be employed, say you have a drawer in your desk, or in some other piece of furniture in your room. Ever think what happens if somebody opens that, sticks your fingers in and then slams it shut? Imagine being woken up that way. Not with a gun to your face, not with some redneck and his shotgun kicking down your door, no. Cold, competant, and with total desire to cause you as much pain as humanly possible.

And any prospective boyfriend should know that about a parent, and keep it firmly in mind before he tries to be disrespectful, let alone attempt a 'Come at me, bro'
