Aside from the weird genetics of 2 mares (XX) producing a colt (XY), not a bad story. Nobody drop the "it's magic" argument on me.

I think I would like to see this story expanded upon with Steel Resolve involved. Perhaps as a sequel to "Green".
Although I must admit part of me feels rather uncomfortable with the idea of Rarity being this incompetent as a parent.
And I would have preferred a more detailed description of what this Emerald looks like.

From the sound of things, the baby isn't even a month old yet, and Rarity has been a first time mother...for less than a month.
This isn't incompetence, this is not having any idea what the bleeding hell I'm doing and oh my god why won't it stop crying what do I do what do I do where is Fluttershy I am in so over my head right now!
I'm sure the point was for it to be a bit ambiguous, but there was no explanation of where Fluttershy was, or the details of her pregnancy in a marexmare relationship. (though I suppose the latter wasn't the point of the story).
