IT'S BACK!
I am sensing a lot of Rainbow hate here, meh. In other news: ITS ALIVE WOOHOO.
Sigh God damn it, rainbow dash. Wait, the story's back...PRAISED BE VAULT-TEC.
Hmm feather head verse gatling laser wielding badass, this won't end well.
She has her impulsive idiot cranked to 11, doesn't she?
Hmm lets see, the pegasus with an overcompensating ego pisses of a hardened apocalyptic badass, with her need to show off, and now she's about to attack a friendly mutant who tries so hard to keep his rage under control, who's simply playing with children. Oh I SO a shitstorm comes her way.
*Facepalm* Celestia damn it Rainbow Dash.
7755263 Make be further question why dash is so popular with the fandom, she just seems like a bitch to me.
7755257 I prefer Stable-Tec, their products are longer lasting and have the unintended effect of giving everyone superpowers.
Rainbow Dash, yu dun fugged up.
Also, PRAISE BE UNTO VAULT-TEC, FOR ITS BLESSED AND HOLY STORY HAS RETURNED! Praise be to Vault-Tec.
Rainbow will be lucky if she manages to put a dent on Fawkes. She's lucky he doesn't have his gatling laser on him. Also, the Wanderer seems older than he looks. Is it me or does this take place several years after Broken Steel?
7755577
About 2 or 3 years.
I literally gasped in real life when i saw this on the front page and immediately proceeded to read it....
You have no idea just how much i love this story.....
I just love this so much.....
7755648 You age faster when you're stressed or in combat often.
With luck, Fawkes might just lightly brush her off and not care.

Considering how thick Fawke's skin is... I don't think he'll even feel it, let alone react with anything other than concern.
Although I'm pretty sure Rainbow's gonna hurt herself here... and then hear more about Jason when she calms down.
*long stream of expletives about Rainbow being an idiot and annoying character with her shoot first ask questions later policy*

your avatar matches that comment too well
Oh thank Christ, I thought this was one of the sequels to the wanderings stuff. Still I'm basically going to have to reread everything in the story. Are you going to update/finish the story properly or is this one of those necro bumps that'll end up sitting dead for another year before an update again?
PS kids, don't try and type anything while drunk. I think that took me about ten minutes to get out without errors.
7755998
It's back, baby.
7755556 yep she...dun.....FUCKED.....UPED!!!
7756009 W00T!!
Thank the deep ones and their glory for returning this author to us unworthy land walkers.
Finnaly! One of my favorite Fallout stories has been updated!!!!!! Yhah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's in the words of my AI OC Robert.
* humps the fanfiction until another chapter is published.* PS he's in a robotic body.
Quick question, whenabouts is this set in the MLP storyline? Basically, the earlier it's set, the more justifiable Rainbow's behaviour is.
Rushing at a Super mutant, This should end badly.
I need to re-read this. It's been way too long and now I'm confused.
Your not going to leave this story for an eternity again right? Plz
7756361 Given your profile picture I'm surprised no comment was made about the bioshock infinite reference in this chapter
Good to see this story updated again.
To be fair The Wonder was being a Jerk... *reads the rest of the Chapter* Ooooooh, that is what every one is talking about... maybe not the smartest idea she has ever had.
Also:
7757276
He's got a good reason to hate people like Dash.
Remember Sticky from Little Lamplight?
7757299 Dude not fair, they are hardly the same person.
Sticky was an annoying brat that didn't know when to shut up or even grow up.
Rainbow Dash, granted she isn't the most tactful of ponies, however she is mature enough to know when she really isn't wanted, and I'm sure she really did wanted to just meet the pony that has all of Ponyville's attention and have a friendly chat, she's allowed that right? little more, little less.
That being said I don't really balm your character, in the world he comes from quick judgments of people can ether save or end your life in an instant, keep close to those who will fight with you, stay away or even kill those who be an annoyance at best, a new threat at worse.
His judgment was very rude because he has only met the pony and almost eminently turns her down, but I can understand why. He just needs to learn on an instinctive level that this isn't the wasteland anymore and he can relax of his surroundings when meeting new ponies.
7757332
Well he's been in the Wasteland for about 3 years, and lost a lot of friends because he tried to see the good in some people (I've taken a few liberties departing from the main game after Broken Steel), and Rainbow's attitude is exactly the kind that molded not only the Tunnel Snakes, but also Sticky, which I'll explain in two chapters.
7757348 Alright, I would like to see the two of them at least try to make up, and it would be good for them to explain why they act that they do. (With the Wonder, of course he isn't going to tell to whole truth, being a human and all.) That would be a fun chapter to read.
Of course that is assuming that she will survive Fawkes first.
Well, Rainbow is a full on bitch so far.
7757120 i forgot about the lettuces beaing in there
7757299 i never talked to the kids there unless i had to since i cant stand kids so i never knew sticky was a thing. And i altso forgot this story was a thing actualy
Which season is this RD?
If it's season 3 and beyond then Hell No.
RD's character has been shot to shit BY THE FANDOM or RD haters more specificly. But the fact is, as the show progress, she has became more and more mature.
I would like to quote someone I've heard: "RD is a braggart dare devil? Congratulation! You have descriped 1% of her entire character/personality!"
7757447 if only a very mature being that's gone through too much shit and is armed to the teeth could slap some sense into her
The fun difference between an perky adventurer and a grizzled hero. Dash thinks it's all fun and games, while TLW has likely killed more raiders than people he knows. There's nothing awesome about surviving in a war zone.
Also, why is everyone praising Vault-Tech and Stable-Tech? It'a Atom you should be praising, for illuminating the author and providing his guiding light.
All caught up! Hopefully the story doesn't take so long to update that I forget it again!
7761527 As much as I agree that an overreacting, premature Rainbow Dash, exaggeratedly in that, is overused in many stories, even though that is not her entire character, I don't find the way she dealt with the Wanderer, and especially how she reacted to Fawkes, as badly written or unnatural as in other stories.
In fact, the Wanderer reacted more aggressively, and impolite, towards her then she herself acted towards him.
At this point she doesn't know his occupation, and found him wandering around town, hence thought that he had some time to talk. She wasn't as much bragging or impolite, as she was trying to start a conversation, while being decently polite.
Him though, he only tried to brush her off, told her basically to 'GTFO' right from the start.
Then after having been insulted like that and with a really bad mood, she walks into Fawkes, a 'Super Mutant', looming over her favorite 3 little fillies, one being her honorary sister.
... I'd say her reaction to him is quite adequate considering the scene.
If her mind was still stuck with the wanderer, only to be confronted with the sight of that giant mutant looming over the little fillies, it's natural that she would get instinctively protective.
Plus she needed to let out some steam anyway, thanks to the Wanderer no less.
No matter the season, or how much she matured in the series, this reaction was definitely to be expected, considering the circumstances she was in.
And if you consider recent episodes like '28 pranks later', I'd say it's not really that much credit we can give to Rainbow in regards of having 'matured'.
Yes, she has learned and experienced some things, and realized some mistaken expectations considering her future career, as a wonderbolt (which she has finally become this season). Never the less, she is still a bragger, a prankster, stubborn and pretty rash no less, even had to be taught a lesson regarding those faults just recently.
Combine that with her sense of loyalty and it's clear she would attack Fawkes under the given circumstances. I don't even blame her for reacting this way. She could have handled the Wanderer better that's true, but she didn't expect such a negative response from him to begin with, as there wasn't really an obvious reason for that either.
Just because Rainbow reminded him of someone he hated, doesn't mean he should've handled Rainbow like he did, which was pretty insensitive or rather premature as well.
All in all, I don't see any error in Rainbow's character her. The author wrote her decent enough.
7765817 ... I sense a 'wink wink, nudge nudge' here...
7783967 your 'hint-hint' sense is tingling?
7784627 It's never failed me before.
7784707 exactly
7779671
I disagree on the wanderer as
7757348 mentions some of the problem groups starts or Are mainly senteret around "benchpressing the world" and in the wasteland that gets people killed and the wanderer most likly has that programed in him. And when Rainbow shows those traits he basicly tries to get away from somethin that "probly becomes problem" in his eyes. Both Are kinda just but Rainbow has an ego that dont handle downright rejection from the getgo.
7789688 Then its a 'character mistake/fault' on the wanderers side that he automatically assumes, she is a problem starter just like any human, especially if ponies are slightly different then humans as a species.
Never the less, his passive aggressive, followed by openly aggressive behavior, with him being the first to start calling insults, isn't something he should continue to practice in a world that hasn't had a fallout as his own, creating those bad groups. This will ownly raise problems for him there.
And shushing rainbow like that, with intense swearing no less, caused her to be mad, beckoning her to make mistakes even faster.
Had she had a more pleasent experience with him, chances are she may not have attacked Fawkes in the position she saw him in, as well would a better mood have perhaps helped her not to act as hasty as she did.
Again, she also had some steam packed now she needed to get rid of, because of 'some jerk stranger' (in her opinion) she met. Finding an unusual sight like Fawkes looming over little fillies, didn't help her 'flight and fight' instincts.
