It looks like something interesting is going to happen soon, seems like the perfect first chapter of a series, but as a one-shot it feels like it didn't have enough like the story isn't complete. Generally speaking squeal baiting is kind of annoying in stories that don't feel complete.

Though a little unnerving to see a psychotically insane Cadence with an obsession for Shining Armor. I'm gonna feel sorry for them when they have to deal with her. Especially Twilight if despite this being an AU, Cadence was still the best foalsitter ever to her. Makes you wonder through, why is she in the caverns then? who put her there and why?

This is how it should have been in the first place. Love transcends fear, differences, love conquers all, Chrysalis should have been his wife all along. The wife he choose. Could have made best episode even better.
I teared up during their vows. I'm not going to shout sequel like these stereotypes, rather I would like a prequel. Not them meeting, not earning each others trust(that has already been mentioned) but maybe them going to Canterlot together for the first time. Shining getting Celestia, Twilight and others to trust Chrysy, and maybe Cadance throwing a fit saying just what she's thinking to the bride and groom. Maybe? That would be a longer story, or several short (5-6Kwords each) ones scattered.

4525515 no one. Cadence was madly in love with Shining Armor, but never had the courage to say anything about it. After she had heard that he was missing in action, perhaps even dead, she sealed herself underneath Canterlot, in the mines, and she wept for sixty days, eves, and nights. after which she had no more tears to cry. But, when she tried to leave, she found that she had laid her spells too well, and couldn't escape. She was an alicorn, so sustenance was not a problem. she could physically survive on next to nothing longer than most live naturally.
Her mind was not so fortified.
She found she could find out about the goings on in canterlot from underneath using powerful hearing spells and, to a limited degree, vision spells, but she couldn't communicate. She was already unstable from thinking that Shining Armor had been dead for two months, so when he returned, not only with another mare, but with plans to marry her, Cadence's last shard of mind broke. She's been down there every since, mad as a hatter, planning a revenge that could very well become a couple centuries too late.

There were quite a few grammar errors I spotted. I only picked one since I am kinda tired, but there were no spaces after periods, a formatting error in the last sentence, and some other quotation errors. The story itself was enjoyable, but I feel we need more insight into what went wrong with Cadance and just how bad the break up was.

4524738 I kinda like this as a One Shot, BUT at the same time it could make for a compelling story. If you started with Shinning and Cadance before he went to the badlands and then somehow explained how Cadance got her horn broken and went from there it could be very intersting.
And then the hole thing later on with the Crystal empire, now that would be one heck of an intersting story!

Cadance's treatment is a bit.. inexplicable and OOC, and while i can imagine Chrysalis doing so as you've explained why, the snippet really needs to explain why Cadance has gone... bat crazy.
