Meet Spike, Canterlot's greatest private investigator. How great? You've probably never heard of him. But he's had hundreds of cases, big and small. He's tracked down missing ponies, engaged in shoot-outs with smugglers, and almost single-handedly took down the Pastia, the biggest gang of organized crime to date (lawyers, politicians, and academics aside).

But he's put the whole P.I. game behind him, and he's ready to settle into a quiet retirement (or as quiet a retirement you can get in Ponyville). That is until a familiar mare pays him a visit about her sister's disappearance. Armed with with only a loaded CARA. millimeter and his years of experience and cynicism, he calls upon an old friend, a certain wall-eyed pegasus. He soon finds himself embroiled in one of his toughest cases to date, one that has the fate of Equestria resting on the shoulders of everyone's favorite purple and green dragon.

Author's Note: I suffer from an advanced case of Footnote Fever, and so I wrote it with footnotes. I am since discovering that every website doesn't have a good way of doing them. So I'm just making them silvery and putting them right after the paragraph they were in. Sorry 'bout that.

I know is alternate universe but this feels like something Spik comes out on his spare time. :moustache: Keep them coming! It´s good read!

This is awesome!
I'm excited for the next chapter, keep it coming!

Very cool. Following this.

Okay, this is good, this is very good. A good mystery with a nice noire edge. I love it!

during the part where you decribe the Cutie Mark Crusaders, you use: "consists of a chicken, a dictionary, and Applebloom." i think you meant to say something else in place of applebloom.perhaps baby? thats the way the show portrays her. or is it the way you have it the way you wanted it?

and this is an excellent story.

this is awesome. some of these people might as well help Lauren Faust make episodes of My little Pony!

So, this tale has quickly gone from purloined pony princess to musical mare mystery and now cottage culinary catastrophe. The one behind this is obviously obsessed with aliteration!

Now, aliteration is often used with rhymes. And who in Ponyville likes to rhyme all the time?

NOPONY! That's who!

Zecora does, but she lives in the Everfree Forest. Anyhoof, I've long suspected that evil enchantress was up to evil, and now I have absolute circumstantial and highly biased proof! More than enough for a conviction! :trixieshiftright:

Please don't let this die. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS DIE!

830138 Don't worry, I don't intend to. The next chapter's almost done, I'm just a terribly show writer.

Wow, this is actually really good, you have a lot of potential here.

Just a quick note here, the grey areas with the notes inside? These parts:

Her face lit up like a firework on a moonless night.3 “Oh, Spike! Most joyous occasion!” she exclaimed, losing a bit of her regal composure (as well as her modern speech patterns) again as she leaped back across the room and threw her front hooves around me.

They don't link properly, the numbers don't immediately say: Hey look! THere's a note relating to this particular moment below!

I don't know, use an asterisk or something?

But apart from that, amazing story, incredibly enthralling, keep up the work! MOAR PLZ!

And last but not least, WHOOSH!

This relates back to what a friend of mine asked. "Dude, do you know what Spike does when the other ponies are on adventure? I think he saves the world or something. You know, while the mane six are the idealistic superheroes like Superman, Spike's the dark brooding anti-hero who makes sure that his friends never have to see the darker side of the world".:trixieshiftleft:

As for the story, great job. I  it. I  it a lot.

Love the noir language, this is very well written and enjoyable. Congratullations
