Nondis is a man who managed to find himself Equestria. While Twilight and the other princesses try to find him a way home, he realizes that finding a way back is only a minor problem in comparison to his growing attachments to some of the Mane Six.

Nondis is going to go Terminator on those changelings.
I'm starting to think I want to see everyone involved in this silly "underground movement" punched in the face and fail just because it somehow seems to include all the biggest dickweeds around. I don't know if you're intentionally trying to make Nondis as dislikable as you can, but after his juvenile rant about how everyone has an awful taste except for him and that hoo-ah jingoist torture apologism, I can't imagine how I ever thought he was aggravating when he was still just everybody's sad little yes-man.
You know, I didn't think I would like the way that you're going with this but I've surprised myself. I actually DO like it. If anything, it shows that Equestrian Politics isn't as "neat and clean" as it's always shown to be. This brings a level of realism into the mix that, I don't think, has been done before. In other words, these ponies are getting a crash course in human politics.
And wlam, yes, it does seem like Nondis is becoming more and more unlikeable as time goes on but answer this. If you were in his shoes and put into that same position, how would you react? Would you bow down and do everything they asked like a good little whipped Captain of the Guard or would you say "Fuck it all!" and start throwing your weight around and show those arrogant ponies just what you are and what you are made of? Personally, I would do exactly as Nondis is doing. Then again, I was born and raised American so anyone trying to subjugate or enforce a law like Processu Approbatio, would find that I would fight for my rights and freedoms to the bitter end.
You know I've never heard the full song, but I associate the lyrics to this:
Might? Right, like I might breathe air today.
Hey if your getting paid, work is work.
Great chapter it was definitely worth the wait. And I'm really digging how he's a bit more political savy, with an eye for strategy. Definitely a general in the making. One thing I'm wondering is is he signed up for classes, or is her waiting for the semester to start? And when it does will he be attending class or is he going to Internet course it?
The only proper thing to associate with that song is Saints fucking Row, because the only thing that's cooler than jumping out of an airplane is jumping out of an airplane while dual-wielding SMGs as some guy raps in the background about how power corrupts.

I grew up in a socialist dictatorship, so trust me when I say that I absolutely agree. That's unrelated to me thinking he's a self-absorbed childish dipshit who needs a good kicking in the balls, though.
5792511
I have no idea what your talking about, I haven't seen anything that I belive would make him unlikeable. In politics it's not about who is cleanest it's about who comes out on top. That has never changed in the thousands of years of human history. Nondis knows this and he is trying to convince the others of this fact. The fact that he is stepping back from full on military coup detat is remarkable level headedness. In a thousand years of playing nice Celestia has gotten nowhere with the law. What the group needs is someone like Nondis to push things the others were scared to do.
5792579
Damn straight, Americans don't take no shit. We play nice, try to not make waves, but hell sometimes the world needs a cowboy to get shit done. So we kick in a few teeth piss off a bunch of people who wouldn't have given us time of day anyways and the world Is a better place.
5792709
Sieg heil.
5792713
yes exactly, if the Austrian's and the other German people nutted up to take him out before he could grow his power base much blood shed could have been spared. But all the political types were too scared of the growing movement and decided to fall in line. If your ideals are better you better be ready to die for them. Because if you fallow they guy who commits mass atrocities you might as well have put the people there yourself
5792720
I'm glad we agree. Now excuse me while I go back to torturing your POW uncle for information.
Hail Hydra!
Nondis knows how to play the game and, with human history backing him up, he just might be able to play it well.
Ha! "Might."
5792722
And that makes him a bad guy? Just because you hold yourself to a standard and rules does not mean your enemies will. In fact Equestria doesn't have anything like the Geneva convention, so fair treatment to a POW just seems foolishly naive. If you consider that the changeling capture anyone civilians or military, use them as food until they die. If rules only apply to you for self gratification then you have no business being a leader
5792744
You know, there's this famous quote about the abyss that people like to use a lot. Mostly, however, they prefer to skip the part that comes before it, for some reason or another: He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster.
I hate torturers. It's not the side you're on that makes you right. It's what you do.
And, more than that, what you're not willing to do.
5792750
ok granted, you have a right to see such an act as awful and horrible. And in this modern age of technology such tatics are mostly needless. But the next time there's a bombing, or some militant act of bloodshed ask yourself if that was you or your family, arnt you glad your country didnt go that extra step that could have prevented it from happening? Don't you feel good that your people didn't become monsters to stop monsters? Rules are useless, they only work when everyone follows them. And the ones those who do are usually the ones hurt most when people break them.
The problem is the only rules that matter are the ones society follows, if the society that Nondis is in does not forbid harsh interrogation why should he preclude himself from using it? If he did then it would actually make the dicks in parlament right in that he is incompetent. Not using resources available to the Captain of the guard, simply because he is to squeamish to do what needs to be done. It would be a weakness that could be exploited, and as a member of the guard he would know this. It would have been part of his guard training.
5792789
Tell that to someone who isn't old enough to remember what it's like to see people disappear without a trace because some Stasi fuck decided "it had to be done for everyone's safety." We were the monsters. The only difference between you and them is who ended up writing the history books.
5792807
But what does that have to do with interogating a POW? An enemy combatant. An enemy who survives on capturing and draining emotion and free will away from their victims. If the captain of the guard isn't doing everything in his power to fight them then parlament will just replace him with someone who will. And there in layes the problem parlament, the corrupt political body that it is could do what you said and the only one trying to fight them is Nondis. He's trying to take down the evil self serving government without shedding "pony" blood. You can't expect that by him laying down and takeing it will change anything. So he is going outside the box to change the rules to be more fair. its what America's founders did.
5792833
The reason I don't have that kind of naive trust in authority and my own righteousness left is because I'm old enough to know better. You're clearly still young enough to think that stupidity is the same as boldness and that you're immune to the flaws of human nature. People like you never listen until it's too late to undo the atrocities you've already committed, which you might one day learn the way I did - while getting shot at by your own countrymen standing on a wall meant to keep you in. Just remember that to any decent person? That attitude just makes you one more monster to fight.
5792861
and your inaction is the reason you are forced to fight. Because sitting around waiting for everything to fall apart befor you do something is way better. I am a product of a generation that sat by and watched as monsters came into our homes to kill us because we didn't want to be the monsters of yesterday. So yes I believe that to fight monsters we must become them, to have safety we must sacrifice freedom, and happiness is what you can protect with your own strength no one elses. Corruption will happen and the only solution is to fight it when it apears. Because no matter how you try to justify it letting others take from you because your unwilling to fight is not gonna change the fact that you have lost.
5792886
And, as your own founding father Benjamin Franklin said, because you're willing to give up all these things, you deserve none of them.
5792896
fancy words, but words like rules are meaningless when you what you stand to lose. A people who are conquered and enslaved because they were too good to fight dirty have nothing but nice words.
5792914
Remind yourself of that later. It might make it less painful when you learn that "being one of the good guys" doesn't make you immune to becoming one of the innocent victims.
5792928
and that's why here in America we are allowed to own firearms, form groups of like minded individuals and protect ourselves from what tyranny may come. Because we know it very may well happen. Just because power corrupts, doesn't mean you should give up your power. Because no one can look out for your own bests intrest better than you.
Sigh...I just have a hard time believing celestia couldn't have crushed this law herself. They really need this human huh.
Welp. Back to killing baby seals. But this time ill do it in front of their parents!

lol to that last bit.
Oooooh, he owned that wrinkled inbred pony ass!!
That's a lot of songs you'll have to play. Instrumental, or with vocals?
5795481 We had vocalists with us. It took place in the French Quarter down in the NOLA. Between "This is How We Do It" and "Uptown Funk", I don't know which one I had fun playing.
Somehow I get the feeling there are rogue changelings are involved and Chrysalis is not involved.
Broad
5796177 Yes, but think of the context of the world they're in. Broad is a good term, but brood is the correct one biologically speaking.
Brood (adjective):
(of an animal, i.e. a pony) kept to be used for breeding
So in context, they were saying that Twilight was a mare made for breeding.
Power by west...makes me think of Saints Row the Third...
How to deal with upset nobles...
5816830 Clipped means some of the feathers were trimmed down, at most it hampers flight but still leaves the patient with some flight capabilities. Removed would mean that they were surgically-well you get the idea.
I honestly don't know what to say about this chapter. I would still like to know when Spike is going to show up again. Probably after the changeling situation?
5837587 I guess it does
5833504 Heh heh heh... About that...
5846972 About what? Spike showing up again, the Changeling situation, or both happening simultaneously?
This really made my day...!
Can I use this in one of my stories? PLEEEEAAAASSSSE???
What the fuck was the point of that Kanye shit in the beginning?
Great story so far. I took a break from reading it for awhile and just picking it back up. The reference to Kanye at the beginning is interestingly relevant a few years later. Can't wait to see where this continues to head. Very intriguing. Ignoring all the haters in the comments.
I got to the point where Blueblood wife are involved my warning labels are popping up like no tomorrow in the great Starship captain once said: !! It's a Trap !!
Reminds me of a certain scene from Mrs doubtfire.

Didn't expect to see my favourite artist mentioned at the beginning of the chapter
MC is really developing as a character here. The gravity of the internal politics of Equestria is becoming quite substantial.
