Though I am a little curious why you decided to make them non-siblings, my first assumption is that it would make writing them as lovers as less uncomfortable for you (which is perfectly fine btw). But I always thought one of the major reasons this a lot of users guilty pleasure would be the different storytelling avenues a relationship like that would open up.
But again very fluffy and fun to read
