Thousands of years following the story of Archmage, Twilight takes on a new student. One who doesn't know the first thing about advanced magic. One who needs to start from Square One.
Well, this is certainly a great follow up to the previous chapter. I love the smooth progression of Star recovering from both her physical and mental traumas with the support of her family, friends, and loved ones. A great pair of transitioning chapters before we get right back to the action.
It just occurred to me. Twilight has been the Archmage for several millennia. She's a smart pony. So, under her guidance Equestria should have entered a new age of technological and magical advancement. Yet the world still seems to be stuck in the more or less same middle-ages/early-victorian era. What gives, Twily?
Hmm... I appear to have run out of chapters to read. This is somewhat distressing.
This stort presents a solid dozen wonderfully crafted original characters, as well as realistic evolutions if ancient canon characters, and I absolutely love every bit of it. It's just awesome to see the dynamics between all the different characterd and watch then evolve as the narrative progresses forward.
Also, Twilight tackled a Canterlot-sized god-dragon into an ocean. A god-dragon who's supposed to be basically indestructible and impervious to magic. I would like more of this please.
I'm also very interested in learning anything at all regarding the motives if Io and co, because any intelligent being has some sort of plan or motive, but whatever their's is is beyond my fathoming.
6014844 I've been focusing on non-pony work of late, trying to get something to put out on Kindle Direct Publishing. I hope that, by the end of the year, I'll be getting paid for writing. As such, my focus has fallen off of any one of my stories currently on this site. I apologize for the long delays between chapters.
6366428 Luckily enough, I feel pretty proud of Goldy's characterization. She remains important - if not outright integral - throughout this story's current resting point.
6366888 Really? I'm guessing it's not towards the relationship though since this story doesn't have a romance tag. Perhaps she ends up breaking up but is still needed to have the story progress? Maybe the flaw she has in her character ends up being the reason they broke up? These are just shots in the dark, but it would be pretty interesting to see if one of them come true.
5913082 Revolutions, whether industrial, political, or magical, are not carried on the back of a single person. One might spark a revolution, but it takes others carrying the torch to make it happen. MLK might have inspired the civil rights movement, but he didn't do everything on his own. Twilight is a bibliophile and an epistemophile. She spends her time learning and teaching rather than trying to get Equestria to rise up and make spark batteries and conveyor belts. It's really more just Equestria's complacency and reliance on magic and nature that's made it so unnecessary for such revolutions to take place.
Their world is as close to utopia as one could get. I'd compare it to <<Underworld>> from the Alicization Arc of SAO, without the church and its leader.
6772280 Funnily enough, I actually cover this topic in the next chapter, which is up for editing now. With the holidays, he's been rather busy, so it'll probably be another week or so.
Long story short (and not a major spoiler, TBH) it's an egregious abuse of an archaic system, and Twilight and the others have turned a blind eye for millennia.
Finally!!!!!!! I've been waiting ages for an update, yay!
Now all i need is an update for through the crystal mirror and i will be ecstatic!!!!

Amazing as always, Loyal!
Hooray!
This may seem like a weird question, but in your universe, is the Equestrian Navy still in the sailing era or steamships? (WWI-WWII)

Give more.

What happened to you. You're back. Like, from the grave.

I've been around lurking the site and such, reading your work. I didn't die or anything and my skypes still up.
Commence read.
Hm. Luna doing her usual dreamscape assistance.
Star finally up and about, ready for some vengeance.
Now to see how Tiamat is dealt with.
You set it up. Cobalt and Twilight may now have bonus chapters to change pace... nice set up.

Farewell dear Archmage-verse. I cherish the time we spent together and will always remember you fondly.

May be seeing a return to form before long.

Three thousand years in the future, shit changes.
