Paradoxes are impossible by definition. You can't create a paradox, the universe won't let you.

So how exactly did Twilight manage to create a closed time loop?

A silly one-shot idea that popped into my head after seeing the Season 4 finale, that wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it out.

And then that Twilight Ceased existing.

Time Travel. Just Seriously Don't do it. It always sounds cool, but it just becomes a mess. :pinkie sick:

Depends on which temporal theory the universe involved uses. One string only? Don't, you'll wipe yourself out. Branching? You'll never fix your world, but others may be saved. Branching with loops? If you're especially careful, maybe. Multiverse (Branching taken to extreme)? It's not time travel, it's evacuation.

I like the story, but this is VERY similar to another story that I read. Unfortunately I don't remember the title. By the way, shouldn't this get a Tirek tag?

There's a Tirek tag?

...Huh. So there is. :twilightsheepish:
Fixed.

Not the first time I've seen this premise, but still an enjoyable instance of it. Of course, this does beg the question of what happened to this particular Future Twilight. I suppose it depends on the nature of time. Either she came back to a doomed Equestria knowing that at least one instance would be spared, she came home to a much safer world, or she ceased to exist altogether...

I'm going to say all of the above, just to be safe.

Appreciated and altered where appropriate.

A well-known author (read: not me) would assert that the ambiguity in the ending is merely an opportunity for the reader to insert their own interpretation for the ending, and that capability is the true beauty of fiction.

Of course, it could just be that we find it amusing to watch people speculate over these sort of open-ended questions.

Though I would never do that. :scootangel:

4403601 while I liked Instability I prefer this story's setup.

First rule of the Loops, we don't ever talk about Eiken.
