Oh man, that was epic. I'm glad my theory #1 was more or less correct, I don't think I could have taken Twi dying without having to go lie down for a while, and since I just read this at work I probably would have gotten some strange looks. Also, that is one heck of a way to test a theory Twi.

Shame about Spike, though I'm not sure I believe Esteem was necessarily telling the truth there. Not like Twi wasn't going to kill him anyway, might as well get in one last twist of the knife. And as much as I dislike him, I'm honestly glad he didn't get a deathbed redemption.

If not for the before mentioned being-at-work, I would have stood up and cheered when Discord appeared.

First: Twilight and her fellow Elements of Harmony have beaten Discord. this is Canon fact.
Second: in PMW, you have set things up so that Discord is Titan's arch nemesis, making them equal in power.
Third: Twilight and the Elements of Harmony were not only stone walled and stopped in their tracks by Titan, but he also beat Twilight around like a red headed step-foal even though earlier she was besting his avatar/puppets without breaking a sweat.
Additionally, you have set things up to show that Luna is dwarfed in power by Terra, who is lesser than Titan. ... and yet Terra is to face the combined power of Luna, a reborn Celestia, and the Elements of Harmony ..and it will be on equal footing?

i am soooo... confused..... i thought i had a reasonable clue of the pecking order of who was stronger than who.. and now suddenly that is turned on it's ear, spun like a bottle, and smacked into next Tuesday.

When I realized Twilight would live I think I got some dust in my eye, just a little bit. I probably was happier then I logically should have been.

Still, I’m confused about a fairly major point – just why is Twilight so angry with Celestia? Because Celestia couldn’t save her from Nhilus? Because she spared Titan and Terra in the first place? Because she gave Twilight the tools to fight a war without telling her? I just can’t see what Celestia has done that’s worthy of Twilight’s apparent hatred. Am I missing something?

Twilight learned the hard truth. Her entire childhood had an ulterior motive. Though she didn't know it, she was being raised to combat Nightmare Moon. That the plan also managed to fit into Titans return was somewhat accidental, if fortuitous. She was raised to be a weapon, and forced not only to become priority target #1, and Nihilus, but to fight.

Logic side agrees with Celestia, it needed to be done, and at least Celestia was doing it for her ponies, sacrificing herself for them. Emotional side still loathes the fact that her surrogate mother raised her to be a weapon against her enemies. That she is fighting as a pawn in the immortal's game of thrones. That her friends were likewise forced to fight isn't sitting well with her either.

I could see her getting over her hatred, but I'm not sure how Twilight is going to resolve her feelings. She could re-embrace Celestia, disown her, or attempt to kill her off herself (Like Courscar) after this is all done. Celestia has been a paragon for over a thousand years, but still was willing to sacrifice much to regain her sister, and the entire conflict was due to Celestia's mishandling of the situation in the past. The title to the next chapter does seem to imply something of the latter...

i think if you do a sequal twilight shold go made with power and join discord that would be sweet

Esteem's fate was fitting and I like the fact that he didn't receive any type of deathbed redemption, he might have loved his daughter in his own twisted way but he also was a abusive monster that deserved everything that he got especially after he revealed Spike's Fate.

You having Twilight telling him that she plans to make sure the he'll to be remembered as ugly and monstrous pony was a really inventive form of revenge, especially given how it probably was worst then being tortured to death for somebody like him.

And Discord was just perfect. You managed to write the character with that sense of maliciousness and dark charm that he had in canon.

First off, you are one of the best authors on thi Is site. Second, am going to have to play some final boss music during this last chapter.k x

OK, its been a week to think on the story, so I think it is crazy-ass theory time. The first thought I had seeing the next chapter name was that somehow Astor Coruscare turned into Discord at some point, which is when her (his? don't remember at the moment) rebellion against Celestia & Luna happened. But that doesn't explain how Discord has a preexisting relationship with Titan & Terra, so that idea is almost certainly a dead end.

My new theory is that Astor's rebellion involved the release of Discord after T&T were sealed away originally. This could go a bit toward explaining Discord's disturbing overly-touchy relationship with Twilight, both in the season 2 opener where he spent a lot of time feeling up Twi compared to any of the other Mane 6, and what we see at the end of the chapter where he wraps himself around Twilight and "gave her a look that made Celestia feel sick." I am imagining his behavior as something that was similar to his behavior towards Celestia's previous student Astor.

Could be dead wrong though, since I may just have missed getting an explanation for Astor's fate at some point. Also, we see Discord behaving in a similar way with the excessive physical contact towards both Terra and Celestia in this chapter too, so that may just be his thing and I am reading too much into it.

287401 Short answer: At least two more weeks.

Long answer: I will start writing them when Rarity's Theorem is done. Rarity's Theorem is technically complete at some 19000 words, but there are still ten scenes that need significant rewrites and three scenes that need total rewrites. After that, it still has to go through the collaborators.

Anything can happen when a fic goes through the collaborators, and Rarity's Theorem has to live up to the six-star precedent set by Sparkle's Law. Ideally a couple things would be pointed out to me, and some light rewrites would make it ready for posting, but that doesn't always happen. Last time I had it looked at, I ended up deleting over nine thousand words and resolving to rewrite the whole thing. One scene remained intact.

After that's done, I'm going to start on PMW, something I can assure you I'm quiet eager to do. As is my policy, I'll release part seventeen when I finish writing part eighteen.

Oh, and I have three midterm exams this coming week. I have to make time for those too, unfortunately.
