Cheesy Sense sends Cheese Sandwich to the Equestria Games, but it’s also Pinkie’s birthday, and he’d much rather spend it with her. Suddenly, it looks as though he might be able to do both, but first he’ll have to run an obstacle course of his own.

Soarin' is probably the nicest of the bunch. He's kind of a sweet li'l thing, but even he would be demanding, considering Wonderbolts probably get what they want. Spitfire can go either way. On a bad day, under stress, I wouldn't want to work for her. Since the Equestria Games are a big deal, I could easily see her getting snippy when everything else isn't just right. Fleetfoot is kind of I dunno. She can be just as skeevy as any of them, but she seems like a follower, so she might either get the immediate dump down of Spitfire's temper and pass it on or try to soothe Spitfire by ordering other ponies around, to get the both of them what they want. Either way, I'm not surprised if he got double-teamed on a seemingly perpetual yelling spree. Especially since they're pseudo-military-esque. Even more reason they expect things to get done and immediately.
Then again, there's also this. Ha ha. I have to love Fleetfoot for being as bad as Rarity, if not worse. I love how she throws away his horse collar.

4342529 Let's not forget that Spitfire and Fleetfoot were willing to lie about Soarin's injuries to Dash--twice. The first time, they asked her to "practice" with them, which clearly was so she wouldn't see it coming, and the second time, they lied and said he wasn't fully healed. Spitfire said she learned something about ruthlessness maybe being a cruddy trait, especially to your team members, but she said that last time, too.
That page is almost as good as Tealove's James Bond fantasy about Big Mac ("Mac. Big Mac.") I notice she's tossing his comic books with the horse collar, and that in her imagination, all the Mane Six (minus Applejack, of course) and Celestia are sobbing because Big Mac got married--except for Rainbow Dash, who has a question mark over her head. Brilliant. That, plus evidently the Wonderbolts disband without her.
The only thing that's off is that it might come off that Cheese can be pushed into this for money, but look at it this way: the Cheesy Sense is saying that he has to be at the Games. But he doesn't have to throw any parties for the princesses. They have Pinkie. And this alone is a problem. Personally, I think he's throwing the Wonderbolts' party because there a re a lot of ponies at it, and THEY'RE happy. Even the Wonderbolts are happy. And Soarin' is VERY happy, because those apple pies are AMAZING.

Nope--I just mean that if he'd sat down and thought about why that Pegasus with the pie fetish was carrying on about how AMAZING those apple pies were, he would have wondered where they came from, and then it might have entered his skull that maybe AJ was at the Games. (Although maybe Braeburn has him talked into the idea that Appleloosa is turning out a better product. I dunno.) I know it sounds nuts that AJ would be baking like crazy at the Equestria Games, but why wouldn't she be? Anyway, if there are apple pies so great that Soarin' cannot shut up about them, then maybe, just maybe, Applejack might be there, and Twilight Sparkle is obviously there, and oh, yeah, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are there, so think this through, Cheese: there's a good chance Pinkie is AT the Equestria Games and this is the real reason your Cheesy Sense is wigging out on you.
Because you gotta be there for her birthday, and if you went to Ponyville, you'd have missed it. And nopony would have remembered her birthday until it was too late.
And that's the reason you're there.
Cheese sleeps wherever, whenever, and his best pal is a rubber chicken, and his major dietary source is party leftovers. I think we'd established that money is not a major motivating factor for him.
Tealove's Fantasy about Big Mac

I'm going to have to assume he talked Braeburn into helping him and for one very important reason. If Applejack was baking, then Cheese would have been talking directly to her. It's not as if AJ hands them over to some other pony to sell for her, although I suppose she could have hired Silver Shill for a little while, but it looked like he was selling popcorn. I'm pretty certain Cheese's supply chain would have been relatively direct in this situation, because pies aren't like jam. They don't really last long enough to sit on a shelf for weeks (without preservatives, anyway.)
So I'm pretty certain that Cheese found Braeburn and either his friend was baking and happy to help, or Braeburn enlisted some of his family who were better at baking. Even then, if it was Applejack, I think AJ would have asked who the pies were for and Braeburn would have told her. Unless she didn't make the connection herself, that Pinkie might want to see Cheese, I think she would have pointed this out or at least mentioned it to Pinkie. It's not as if AJ would have been baking in secret and for something that big, she probably would have gotten Pinkie's help. So it's not impossible that they could be AJ's pies, but I'm more inclined to think they're Braeburn's or at least other members of the Apple family.
... Haha I don't even really ship Braeburn and Soarin' necessarily. (I like it, but it's one of those inexplicably popular pairings that I'm not super excited over. I'd ship Braeburn with other ponies first, because I think loving his pie is funny once and then what else is there? Takes more effort than that. But then I'm just not a huge fan of Soarin'. Fancy Pants is about as one-note as he is, and I find him a lot more interesting, even after Rainbow Falls. Heck, I still like Bulk Biceps a lot better, even after that episode. I'd totally ship Bulk with Braeburn. They'd be so enthusiastic together! I think Bulk is hilarious and has a complex, empathetic underside that has shown through a few times now, in a much more interesting way than Soarin' has been revealed. Bulk/Brae would be a very interesting match.)
That reminds me, I started reading an AU with Braeburn/Princess Twilight recently. It was too enticing of an idea to ignore for long, out of all the thousands of others in my read later pile. I haven't finished what chapters there are yet, so the Brae/Twi has been really mild in favor of the adventure, but I really, really like that idea. She's really down to earth, relatively speaking, in spite of her title, and Braeburn is Braeburn. Obviously there is the problem of Brae living in Appleloosa and probably not wanting to move, as always, but it's not as if they're automatically incapable of attraction and friendship beyond that. It's possible they wouldn't get along that well, but just as possible that they would. Another really fascinating idea, IMHO, although it takes a lot more effort to turn that into anything lasting.
Ahem, but I digress. For maximum humor, it could have been that the supply chain just didn't make the connections they should have. That's still entirely possible.

A bigger picture reveals his puffy brown mane and tail. Since it's a whirling 360 degree shot, the only place you'll see Cheese is in a screenshot--and then the next time you watch, you'll definitely see that he's there.
