Good story. It is especially creepy and dark at the point that it is not yet obvious that it was a dream caused by the dark magic -- I really thought at that point that she was actually harming her friends. And it canon-fills the question of what happened to that magic when it left Rarity. If Cadance were being tempted of course it would be to induce love even where she should not. And obviously some of it was leaking out of her when she was asleep -- hence the enthralled guard, which must have happened when Cadance thought she was using her love magic on the household. Luna dealt with that problem in a typically direct Luna fashion.

Thanks
What happened to the magic after it left Rarity was actually the prompt. Or part of it, anyway. :scootangel:
(BTW, not simply leaking; she was unconsciously firing bolts of dark magic that turned the crystals black while enthralling the ponies that were hit, and were able to pass through walls to boot, which is why Shining Armor and Luna pooled their magic to throw a shield around her. And, in something similar to Pyrovision, Cadance was seeing her blasts turning the crystals a lovely rose color and was convinced it filled the ponies with adorable love. Alicorns can be scary :trollestia:)
(Gosh, do you think I should have added the [Dark] tag? I didn't think the story dark enough for it, I actually thought the dialog in the fight scene of "Somepony to Watch Over Me" darker, but then it's harder for the author to know the impact a work will have due to already knowing how it will go.)
