Too short to have a real opinion on this, but i liked what i read till now
It's an interesting story, with a very unexpected ending. But unfortunately, the fever you had while writing influenced it, since there are some things that doesn't seem to fit:
First, why did Spitfire retiring Soarin before she retired? Where is the point for the story of that?
Also, is Soarin a changeling too? If not, why? How can it then be that he is not a changeling, despite the other Wonderbolts are?
Second, why did Spitfire even retire and why was she so eager to make Rainbow Dash the captain?
And third, why did Spitfire so explicitly say at the end that the captain of the Wonderbolts is always a changeling, despite that all Wonderbolts are changelings?
These are things that should be fleshed out better.
Maybe you give this fanfiction a rewrite one day?
It has potential, but being written with fever makes it very flawed and the idea shouldn't be wasted.

If Spitfire hadn't forced Soarin into retiring before retiring then Soarin would have been the head of the Wonderbolts. The whole idea of it for Spitfire was to have a new and long lived as captain, captain of the wonderbolts. She could play Dash for a good 15 years while she only had maybe 3 left for Spitfire.
What Spitfire needed was Dash's LEGITIMATE signature on the dotted line before impersonating her.
As for all of the wonderbolts? No. Only Spitfire and Fleetfoot are changelings.
(and my other option writingwise was to do work on DPGCMC -- which going by the reactions to this I am glad I didn't do. In essence I felt like writing or at least didn't feel like doing anything else and needed to be distracted so this happened. As for re-writing, the ship has sailed. You can't really resubmit so it would only be for a very small number of people who found this whenever and did not find it when it started. I am content to have it buried. It provided experience regardless, and it is not like I am low on ideas.)

Oh, so she isn't turning Rainbow Dash into a changeling too, but just killing her?
I got that wrong.
But what I still don't understand is, why she hasn't continued impersonating Spitfire?
Because her contract with the Wonderbolts as Spitfire was over?
Interesting one, this.

I thought so... This one was written while I had a fever with the flu. I just felt like writing something anyway. Glad you enjoyed it. My main story DPGCMC is finally going to be getting a new chapter really soon.
I must say - I couldn't see that ending coming.
As a short one-shot it's pretty interesting. If this were longer, it could have a more developed plot and the motivations behind the various characters would be more well-known.
Well, that explains what Soarin was saying.
Had this been longer and more developed, I'd give this a favorite.
As it is, I can't even give it an upvote.
To be honest, this feels like a first draft. The plot could have been a bit more fleshed out b4 posting. As it is. The story feels rushed.
The ending did catch me by surprise. Would have liked to have learned more backstory.
I can't wait to read more of your fics.
