Octavia Philharmonica is one of many who are trying to make it in life, and living in one of the nation's busiest cities doesn't make it any easier. She just got laid off of her job, and bussing tables at her friend's cafe part-time isn't doing much to pay the bills, so Octavia falls to her last resort - she'll use her talent of music to offer lessons for those who are willing to learn the craft.
However, when a bold, crazy disk jockey obsessed with rock-n-roll signs up, everything turns upside down.

This fic is a lot of fun, there are no errors, the storyline is good. Don't let this die! Tier 3.
I'm guessing Octavia's offering singing lessons, then, or strings? Perhaps musical theory? "Music lesson" is pretty vague.
Considering that Octavia is otherwise used to the noises of the city but Vinyl's singing is described as "screaming", she might actually need some help with singing. If she's self-taught she might not have realized the difference between a voice that is full and a voice that is merely loud. That seems to be pretty common with people who learn to sing on their own.
But how successful a DJ is Vinyl? There are better options available for a popular musician than a no-name with an ad in the paper (although... if she's popular, that would be a way to get lessons without having to worry about it becoming a big deal, like she would if she went to some well-known, really good musician). Considering the timing, I imagine that she heard the last exchange between Lyra and Octavia. The question is whether she's playing a game, or taking advantage of an opportunity.

Vinyl Scratch got her name in a brony poll, the name DJ PON3 being her stage name (The show never calls her by Vinyl Scratch) Octavia was also a brony name, as well Derpy, Dr.Whooves, Berry Punch, Dinky, and Lyra Heartstrings.
