Young Rarity does not know what gay means in this context is actually rather funny. I find it odd that nopony was willing to explain it to her, though.
This chapter is a little uncomfortable to read, but at least nothing really bad happened to Rarity. She was kicked out when she should have been.
This certainly lives up to the sad tag. Poor Rarity, for she was single and always so ready to mingle!

I agree with you, but that's because we're looking at this from the perspective of adults, instead of from the perspective of a teenage girl.
Rarity, on the other hoof, is looking at it from a perspective of 'he's hot and I want him and I'm mature enough to make my own decisions!'
The real irony of this is as I started my reply a Rod Stewart song started playing.

I suppose that's true. I'm surprised that there was such a massive time skip between the first entry and the last one, especially with how consistent the voice was for the first few entries and the lack of dates.

I felt bad for Rarity while writing this.
She's not yet thirty at the conclusion of this story, so there's still plenty of time for her to find a special somepony of her own. And now that she's stopped looking, perhaps fate will intervene on her behalf.
