"It’s that voice, that sparkling voice that sets my back shuddering and my muscles flexing..." They're always trying to get in Big Macintosh's head, all except one pony, a pony that means the world to him. Tonight, perhaps he can finally tell her.
Take a look inside Big Mac's thoughts in this inner monologue one-off. There's a lot more than he's willing to admit.
That's depressing. At least there's always tomorrow.
An enjoyable story.

Well now that's just adorable!
This totally reminds me of my first crush. Awkwardly,I find this story adorable nonetheless.
Adorable
Like, fav and added to my recommendation group.
Oh my god. What a wonderful story. His internal monologue never felt fake or stilted, and the change between full sentences and fragments was nicely handled. And I love the little touches, too, like when he switched an actual "Yes" for "Eeyup". Have yourself a fave!
The best thing about this story is how in-character it is. Big Mac's got so many feelings, especially about Miss Cheerilee; just because he's in the habit of letting them go unsaid doesn't mean they aren't there. The most touching moments are the small details in between the romantic prose: Mac apologizes for not being eloquent enough to say any of these poetic lines out loud, he thinks of his dad in those high points and low points of his self image.
At first, I wasn't sure where his affections were directed because of how much he noticed Rarity. By the end though, I understood: he sees beauty in many people, but he saves the finest compliments for the mare he loves. Y'know ... if he could say them.

Thanks for the wonderful review, Crescent! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Some of these words felt a little big for how I envision Big Mac's vocabulary, but the emotion here, from exhilaration to disappointment to hope, is top notch

Thanks, Blazzing! I always figured Big Mac was smarter than he let on, but to each there own!
