This story is a sequel to Rainbow Dash, Element of Magic
Applejack hates farming, but being the Element of Loyalty, she cannot say no when her family asks her to help them compete in the annual farming competition in Appleoosa. The catch is Twilight Sparkle and her family are ALSO competing in the SAME contest, and Rainbow Dash is caught in the middle. Will their friendships survive? What lessons will they learn? And more importantly...who will win?

Currently, I envision him as still Captain of the royal guard unless I can think of something more interesting to do with him, but my current thinking is that he was unaffected by the same scandals as the rest of his family and he remained in Canterlot as Captain of the royal guard, driving a wedge between him and Twilight. Of course, until I address this in canon, this is subject to change.

5524146 Yeah see rotten is supposed to be a lot more nuanced and complex compared to my preferred kind of villains, and as such he's, while still pretty much a scumbag, is far more sympathetic and understandable, not to mention his own warped sense of honour and ethics.
I do hope he becomes a popular villain, I will admit.
