Yugi Moto and his friends are invited back to Duelist Kingdom to take part in an exhibition tournament set up by Maximillion Pegasus. There they meet a group of six duelists who know a thing or two about Duel Monsters that even the King of Games has never seen before. But with mysterious pasts, old rivalries, secretive wagers, and the ever-present danger of the Shadows, no friendly contest is ever as simple as it seems. Gather your cards and fortify you life points, cause it's time to Duel!
This is a blatant attempt to shoehorn a complete story out of a comic I found on Deviantart that wouldn't leave my head until I fleshed it out. That comic can be found here. I promise to not use quite as many memes as the comic did. I also promise to try and make the games as interesting as I can.

So i just watched the Yugioh Movie (yes i know, it has been out for how long, and i have been playing for how long, and i just watched it now?!) And i realized something: Friendship IS Magic, especially in Yugioh.

Oh I know he's lost before, he lost another time to Kaiba but that was to Kaiba, and he gave up, and with the circle of Ossus thing, he was corrupted and ended up getting his payback anyway, my point still stands though I don't mind Yugi being beaten in the show, because they knew how to handle it all, but this is fan fiction, if he were to lose to these ponies it would essentially be saying he lost to the main six in his own show, which is a no-no.
I must say, the duel was a nail-biter. I'm rooting for Team Yu-Gi-Oh on this one, Go Yugi!

Be interesting to see how the rest of the battles shape up, personally I'm hoping for Mai vs. Rarity at some point and I'm guessing you'll do Flutters vs. Bakura so we get the scene from the comic that inspired this.
I'm also hoping we'll get a bit of background into where exactly the mane six fit in this universe since barring some weird out of left field twist they are obvious not now, nor have they ever been ponies. Does some version of Equestria exist in this world, are is Celestia working for Pegasus in a real world country? Like say... In America!
Of course it's pretty obvious this will all build up to Twi vs. Yugi-boy in the final. Unless you have a twist planned like say Nightmare Moon out of nowhere!

Y'know, from the sheer amount of 'squee!' I felt reading this chapter, you'd think I was watching the actual show. There's no denying that Atem is nothin' but badass, which just happens to be sealed inside an adorable, panda-like container.
Also, Rainbow, you were doomed the instant his lifepoints went below 1000. Yugi's chances of winning only ever grow as he loses lifepoints. Being knocked below 1000 is pretty much a guaranteed win.

That's a very nice card, but unfortunately I've already made all the cards I need for this story. What I'm waiting for is artwork for those cards. Most of this story is already written, in fact, so these chapters will be churned out like clockwork as soon as I get them. I would need to rewrite a lot of stuff if I changed out the cards at this point for different cards...

I actually have the next two chapters already written, the next two after that all planned out word for word in my head, and the next three following are bouncing around in the planning stage getting fleshed out. The lack of images is literally the only thing holding me back from dropping 3-4 chapters into it all at once.
Just to clarify, this story is not dead!
I've commissioned a guy to do up the images I need for the next chapter, but he's a professional and apparently he had a backlog to work off. I should be getting the images from him sometime this week, though he hasn't contacted me in a while. I appreciate the offer, but now that I've paid money for it I think I should wait for them to be finished.
I think requesting specific artwork is the wrong way to go about doing this. If you or anyone out there has a deviantart account full of fantasy artwork you've already drawn, I can look through and grab anything I need. The chapter after the next one need images that don't have to be anything in particular, so I may just be able to grab it without all this waiting!

That's only in the trading card game. I'm using the card wordings from the manga/show, which are slightly or occasionally wildly different from their actual cards. For example, in the show Silent Doom can revive any kind of monster in defense mode, but that monster isn't able to attack anymore. If you follow the link to the card and read a little further down the page, it lists the way the card works in the show as opposed to the card game.
Sorry if I wasn't clear about which set of rules I was using before.
