No clear cut explanation or resolution. To further the weirdness, it no chance of clarification in a different chapter with the complete tag. Yet some how I don't think it needs those. I think this is just a funny 'what if' moment.
It's not going on my favorites, but I'll give it a thumbs up.

This... this is actually really funny.
I admit, given the darker tones in this story, I would have liked to have seen some continuation or resolution.
But... as a comedy it gets the job done. Thumbs up from me.

yeah i get what your saying, and admmitiantly some reactions (including mine) to the whole jananamations thing were a little overboard
but is just i loved buttons adventures and don't mine at night so much, and to know that there gone and will never be followed up(atleast not for a long time) is really sad for me, but i reilise there will still be fics of him and there will still be fan art.
so the long short of it is your fic is hilarious
and made me feel a little silly

The only explanation I can offer is that he is dreaming, or Button WAS actually dead. and his day was fabricated by Maternity. This dream has occured with me on more than one occasion, and it was WEIRD. Although I didn't have the balls to kiss anyone in dreamland.
Good fic though, keep it up 
Heh. I know it's meta comedy, but it really feels like the beginning to an interesting story where we figure out if Button is a ghost or if there's something else here.
Of course, people slowly coming to the realization that the young colt isn't exactly dead works as meta commentary as well.
