Laughing Jack

Wait, what? You want me to tell you something about myself before you talk to me? Buck that, just ask!

King Sombra has been argued as the worst villain Twilight and her friends have faced. The question remains to be asked though: What led to Sombra's reign of terror?

Alright, here it is, my submission to the Everfree NW Writers competition. Here's hoping it's good. Coverart courtesy of Caledonian.

Great story.

I feel you on wanting to add in more detail, but as far as things go, you worked with the word limit exceptionally well.

The only thing I found odd was the whole windigo thing. Granted, I'm sure you had more details to be put here, but I was somewhat confused about that whole transition there, as I didn't realize that they were possessive in almost any sense. However, it isn't exactly something that sticking, as either way, Sombra was gonna get out of his prison. Whether he did so in his right mind or not was up to interpretation. Besides, 1K years locked in ice without a doubt would have invited at minimum a flu if not pneumonia. :rainbowlaugh:

It's also a little text blocky in many places, though I doubt that'll be an issue as far as judging for the competition goes, and is merely an ease of reading thing.

Anyways, I like this story.

As for the windigos, I tend to see them as spirits that not only are attracted to disharmony, but also cause it via a mentally-vulnerable being, first introducing disharmony into the being's heart, then taking root and influencing (if not controlling) them. It's just my viewpoint though.

Controlling through suggestive thoughts is one thing. Outright possession like a ghost is a little more hooves on. :moustache:

You need to expand on this! It is really good!
