I quite agree with your characterization of Spitfire here (in the idea that she thinks/is told she is worthless. It's a major element in my fanfic about her), and it's cool to see someone have a familiar portrayal of her backstory/motivations. 
And "hornhead" is the best racist terminology I've heard in my life
