The teen rating is there for a lot of reasons. As for gore... Well, I'm hoping to get away with not using the tag, but it may be called for in later chapters. The romance kicks off next chapter, but you aren't getting any more spoilers than that.
As for the adventure tag, that will slowly come about in the next few chapters.
As for sad and tragedy, well, sad might be good for a great deal of the chapters, but I'm not sure there will be enough to warrant the tag. I'll mull it over. Lastly, I don't want to give away too much by discussing the tragedy tag, so I'll leave it at that.

I think Rarity, Sweetie Bell, Rainbow, and Scootaloo should move to Sweet Apple Acres during reconstructions so the three fillies will always be together and comfort one another. And Rarity needs to remember that her parents would have wanted her to save Sweetie more than them.
Man, you really know how to write a dark story. This latest chapter almost made me crying. I'm looking forward on what the next chapters will bring. I wonder how Pinkie's affected by the Cakes death. And can Sweetie Bell accept that her parents are gone? Will Scootaloo survive (oh please don't let her die, my heart will break D:) and if so will she wake up or be in a coma? And how is Apple Bloom coping with the suffering of her friends and with the dead of Silver Spoon? I have to know what happens next and who exactly caused the fire. Please, do carry on, because this story's simply amazing!

Laughter is miserable, Generosity is stuck in a tight spot, and Loyalty is worn thin and doubting herself... this is bad. I hope Twilight, Applejack, and Fluttershy can help their friends.
Damn... if some villain wanted to break up the Elements of Harmony... they seem to have succeeded in at least causing strife among the group. But I can't wait for the arsonist to be found and brought to justice. I think Rarity in particular wants to GIVE them some pain until they can't take any more.
A good story thus far, the plot is interesting and easy to follow and your representation of the characters is on par. I shall be looking forward to reading this progress when it is updated.

6441532 Not dead, but currently on the back burner, so to speak. I've been working on other things. However, I've cleared just about every other side project. I have one short story that's getting close to done. Once that is out of the way, only Inferno and HeartBeat will be left to finish. Hopefully I'll be able to devote more effort to this story at that point.

I also find myself wondering if Spike is immune to smoke inhalation... the dragon in Dragonshy breathed out the stuff, so ash is probably not an issue, and carbon monooxide might not be. Shear lack of oxygen OTOH might be (perhaps even more so if he has an 'internal furnace')...
If he is resistant to smoke (and he definitely IS to fire) and Twilight kept him out of the action... that is going to sting her heart later.
