Ch.6

“Oh my, are you the proprietor of this establishment?”

“Oh. Y-Yes, yes I am...I am told you don’t speak Equus.”

“Unfortunately, my Equus is not so good, but I have been learning.”

“Hmm...I see.”

“Oh! But where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself.”

“My name is Rareza Campana, however, you can call me Rareza.” (A/N: Rareza Campana directly translates to “Rarity Bell”)

“I’m Mr.Darkheart. Pleased to meet you, Mrs.Campana.”

“Oh, no, darling, just Rareza will do.”

“Alright. Rareza then.”

“Rareza, you must realize that not being able to speak the native language is a huge detriment to the likelihood of you being hired on.”

“I understand, however, he said that you might say that.”

“He?”

“The one who referred you to me. Pezuñas,” (A/N: Pezunas translates to Hooves, a name in this context.)

“Pezuñas! Well, why didn’t you say so? You know what, why don’t you come into my office where we can discuss this in private? I think you’re going to have a bright future here at Rainbow Burger Mrs.Campan --I mean, Rareza.”

“Well, I’d be delighted too! Lead the way Mr.Darkheart, I can’t wait to start working for you,” she said.

Ch.7

“Oh, dear, I’m so sorry about that, I wasn’t watch--”

“Oh, heh, small.”

“Why don’t you pull the proverbial stick out of your hindquarters, sunshine,”

“Because if I do, I’m gonna hit you in the head with it so hard, the dye in your mane is going to form a rorschach test on the wall.”

“What! You mean...this whole time?!”

“Why didn’t you say so before!? It would have made things easier!”

“You didn’t ask, and that’s just how I train everyone.”

“Before you say anything else,”

“I have a question to ask you. And I want you to be perfectly honest with me.”

“No lies.”

"Do. You. Have. Your. Suncard?"

Author's Note:

This index will be updated multiple times for each chapter with Spanish.

Had a feeling it was something like that, judging from the comments and my very weak knowledge of Spanish. I've never been a fan of giving ponies last names (I have my own theory on how they handle names in canon, which doesn't actually contain surnames in the strictest sense), but in this AU with humans it makes sense that they'd pick up on that convention. In general, I like this and I'm still curious what Sombra is up to. :rainbowkiss:

This is pretty good so far making me laugh.XD

Considering that most of the readers on this site don't read spanish, I don't think they'll be as critical about it. Grammar Nazi's are one thing, but Spanish Grammar Nazi's are another. Thankfully the former seems to outweigh the latter.

*waits patienly for S.S. Guerro to rip fic apart.*

...Monty Python reference? I wasn't aware, but I'll take credit anyways.

...seriously, where is it?

I don't know either. But I'm curious to hear it. I should probably be able to guess, but it's been a long time since I've watched any of the movies or the sketches. :derpytongue2:

Parallels can be fun, especially if you can poke holes in them. I've seen the Equestrian maps, and often wondered, "If this is like a pony parallel universe of earth, it seems awfully selective in the countries it chooses to parallel." Then I thought of Diego. I guess it has to able to be made into a pun for it to have a parallel.

It's not even to far a stretch as far as canon goes, if you count Equestria Girls as canon in any way shape or form. Where in the heck is Twilight's parallel counterpart? Some things just get lost in translation.

Btw, how did you like Sombra's evil speech on how the world works?

Lyra wasn't expecting an Inquisition. With the way you worded it, it reminds me of the Spanish Inquisition skit in Monty Python.

*facepalms*

Duh...I forgot I wrote that.

Those must be fanon maps. I realize there are a lot of correlations in Equestria with America, but considering Equestria is an amalgamation of America, Canada, and Britian (really loosely) with Greek/Roman themes sprinkled about... I mean, I can accept some continental approximations and I know they do have some presumptive proof (the French language, mention of Abyssinia, Saddle Arabia), but so much of it could be translation methods to express the idea to people in our world. There are enough differences still that as far as canon goes I'll never give up on the idea that it's the stereotypical fantasy/sci-fi trope of "everyone speaks English/everyone speaks Japanese" kind of deal. I don't think there are exact correlations down to the country, so much as there may be an Eiffel Tower somewhere in a rough approximation of Europe. :duck:

Sneaky Edit: I realize the naming issues do add trouble, but my honest opinion is that only ponies use such excessive puns. However, I don't know that this helps in any way. It really does make naming things awkward.

I did love poor Diego's irritation though. Poor man had every right to be irked. :trollestia:

Sombra's speech was perfect. He was evil in the way people tend to be, by excusing themselves and rationalizing what they do with exceptional logic. And I liked that Pinkie had her doubts and she had to face some unpleasant truths about herself. Pinkie does care, but she gave up the way a lot of people do. It's so easy to ask "how can anyone make a difference?" We do it all the time. :pinkiesad2:

4121117

I see your point, and unfortunately, yes...I did mistake a fanon map for an official map of Equestria.

*failed like a noob*

It's not my fault fans make such high quality work...:fluttercry:

Oh well. In either case I agree with you on Equestria being an amalgamation of ideas rather than a direct parallel, and I do plan to address the issue later on in my story. For the sake of this story's canon, however, Mexicolt and Canidae (or perhaps I should change the spelling to just Canida? *shrugs*) are a thing, and because of their relation to Equestria, it becomes natural for Pony and Human within the context of this AU to draw the conclusion that Equestria must be the U.S.'s parallel, if not in culture, then in power.

The human world and Equus, however are not perfect parallels. Just approximations to each other, born from a cosmic coincidence, which in terms of the Googol Universe (google the term, no pun intended) would be considered an inevitability on an infinite timetable, despite being an astronomically high improbability.

I'm going to play around with this concept like no one's business.:trollestia:

They are really good maps. :pinkiecrazy:

And yeah, your emphasis on similarities so far have all been for commentary purposes. I don't mind at all when there's a clear reason and it's done well. In fact, I look forward to more! :trollestia:

Canidae versus Canida? Not sure which is better. Maybe Canida. :unsuresweetie:

:pinkiesad2: I iz sorreh!

Quite possibly the only picture of pinkamena which is truly cute.

Hm.

No idea how I came across this, even less of an idea of what made me decide to start reading it, and while I wasn't expecting anything, this isn't that... bad?

I can't really explain it myself. I guess the idea of a Pinkamena working fast food tagging along with the skull of a ghost Applejack (which I can't help but love so very very much) just kind of makes you want to keep reading.

Really, colour me surprised. Shame it seems this will be going on hiatus as your blog post mentions, but a spot on my Read Later it deserves.

Should it ever continue, I await with open arms!

4459096
Yeah, I'm actually real sorry about that.
However, I have not quit, and i will continue this.

It's been sorta weird the last few months :twilightblush:

But i plan to get back into writing soon enough. No promises or deadlines, just know that I will...unless I accidentally die or something.

*knock on wood*

edit: I'm glad you liked it!

4448664

Weird... I have no idea how I keep missing/ forgetting that. :twilightangry2:

I like this story, I can't wait for you to continue it.:pinkiehappy:

Interesting will give it a read... :derpytongue2:

4459933 so when CAN we expect an update?

5937134

Well. I need a new computer and have less than $500 in my account. Considering the difficulty of writing on mobile and other burdens of living plus my massive debt from old student loans and hospital bills, Id say whenever I win the Texas lotto.

5937405 got it. Good thing I'm a patient man

5937467

I sincerely hope I can reward said patience one day with the most awesome possible fic ever.

But atm thats still a ways off. Might happen only years later after mlp fades away into irrelevance, but its still a goal for me.

5937600 "most awesome fic ever" is just the right thing to call this my good sir. Also, The day MLP fades into irrelevance is the day the temperature in hell drops to -100°

Just found this via Rage Reviews, an I definitely have to say I'm enjoying it. Well-written (despite a few minor spelling/grammatical errors), and I love the take on the characters. The "humans invading and paving over everything" idea is one I had in mind for a story I'm working on (though in a completely different way), and it's interesting to see how it's used here. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
